In our cars IMO strut bars aren't a super big help. The only reason I bought mine was to help with window creaking after my spring install. You could consider the ebay ones. But I chose to get a CF titanium front and a cusco rear. Your best bet is to post in the classified wanted ads and keep an eye out for deals. There is a group buy for the X-Brace that will be coming in next month. This means plenty of people selling their old cuscos The only reason I bought mine was to help with window creaking after my spring install.

As was already mentioned, strut bars aren't really needed on a stock suspension. I to am going to buy a rear strut bar to stop my rear window from creaking but that is the only reason.

the rear strut bars make a noticeable difference in fact - especially with the V brace, even on stock suspension. The front one however is largely dressup

For the rear the most popular is the OS, though Cusco also does a Carbon one that is very light and very stiff and not very pricey ($220)

STAY AWAY FROM EBAY!!!! Go with the cusco type CB. Well worth it, strong as hell, and beautiful in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I'd get it from Z1, they've got the best prices around. And yes, your welcome Adam.

Considering it is just a tube of metal that connects two points, the ebay should work just as well as a name brand one.

Rear strut bars make a noticeable difference; I felt the difference with a Cusco OS without the V-brace. They may not knock seconds off your lap times but they definitely stiffen up the rear of the car.

Popular opinion is that front strut bars do not have much effect on handling, but mine stopped the dreaded windshield creak so it must be doing something.

Rear bars fit every Impreza from '02 through '07. STi front strut bars are always a tight fit, and the '07's have special issues because the air conditioning lines have been moved into a most unpleasant location, at least as it concerns a strut bar.

Acording to testing done by the gus at (Car Lab??) there seems to be no benefit whatsoever from a front or rear strut bar. (See post #113 on the link below).

So the best rear strut bar is probably NO rear strut bar.

Have you seen the X-Brace by The Car Lab? Do you have one?

On the page after the link is a pic of the rear "X" brace I made myself. I couldn't wait for the CL group buy to come to fruition.
