I'm not sure where to put this as it falls under a few topics.

Ok I tried searching and didn't find anything so here goes.

I had some race tires put on for Auto-x and ever since under Acceleration my car pulls left. Thte fast you are goin the worst it is. If you fight the pull when you let off the car jerks back right. Now it's not the tire because I have rotated and such to be sure. I took it in to the dealer and the tried geting it aligned...still pulled. They called the district offce they siad they had seen it 2 times before in the district and it was bad bushing on the steering rack and pinon. So they repalced those too. Still pulls. Now they are trying to tell me that this is somethig to expect form a high performance car. BS. Really they just don't know what it is and don't feel like figuring it out. I mean the car didn't pull for 5k miles then all of the sudden it does. The owner of the dealer said his kinda does it too. Anyways if anyone knows what up or can help thanks. I'm tired of dealing with the idiots at the service center. I just want to find the fix so they can get it done. Thanks for any help.

Now they are feeding me some line about how this is how the car handels. He said it will be twitchy over bumps and stuff. The guys just a puppet of the district guy. I mean he drove it and felt to pull no bumps cause a consistent pull everytime you accelerate. Can anyone help? :-?

Default New Penguin Game!!

I wish I could help, but I think you've got to (1) be insistent, but polite, and (2) convince the service manager that something is really wrong and that you're not going to accept the car the way it is. For a great example of the wrong approach, see the "definition of tranny abuse" thread.

Right, I feel ya. I'm trying that, but I am losing patience. They have told me three times that it was fixed when it wasn't. It is really beging to feel like they are trying to play me.

Maybe you should try taking it to another dealer.

Are you testing it on the same stretch of road? In my daily commute there are few bits of pavement that I dread. Both hands on the wheel, or I'm going to be in the next lane. You might be testing on a high crown stretch of road.

Sounds like an alignment problem to me. I haven't read the STi as being twitchy under normal driving conditions, only when it is pushed to its limits.

incase you haven't, check tire pressures although that prolly goes without saying, otherwise it's prolly an alignment issue. Do you know anyone who runs a shop and can check the alignment? That's prolly your best bet, just find someone you trust.

I feel your pain man! Jus chew them alive call SOA like 2 times a day, get a test drive with the district manager.

You gotta realize that the dealer wont do any work they might think SOA wont pay them for. Like my service manager said 'we're not finding a prob with ur tranny at this moment so we're not even going to look at it...this is a business....'

Call SOA and ask when will the DM visit your nearest dealership and test drive with him. After he gives the good 2 go for a warranty go ahead and tell him you want some other dealership to perform the work bec you dont want to give 'them' your business. Thats what I did....ben without the car for a week now

I miss the damn car already...

let us know ur experience on getting some warranty work on the STI

thanks

Well luckily it went a little soother than that. Apparently it was the tires. some strange phenomenon. They are Michellin pilot sports. If anyone else has run these tires on a STI let me know. Glad it was something minor but a very frustrating situation.

How did you figure it out? Moving the tires around? Changing the tires?

Glad it's resolved.

They took the rims and tires off the owner's STI and put them on mine. No pull. Kinda weird haven't figured out why the tires but it's them.

Sounds like defective tires. Return them.

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks. Have a new STI--2 weeks old w/ 400 miles. I am having a similar problem. But I don't have Michelins. It feels like torque steer. Pulls to the left under heavy acceleration. I just figured thats how the car is. Its not apparent when I set DCCD to open. So is some "torque" steer normal or not on these cars. Or should I talk to the dealer. There's a rattle on the glove box thats driving me nuts too. Otherwise I love the car.
