Default stupid question...

don't know a lot about car suspension...a coilover doesn't replace the whole spring does it? and are the cobb springs good for autoX/daily driving

A coilover is a strut/spring assembled. Hence the term "coil" "over."

^^
so yes, the coilovers will replace your entire strut and spring assembly.

The cobb springs might be a bit too low, causing understeer (read about mcpherson suspension geometry to find out why, suspension geometry is a very interesting subject), great for looks, but at a trade off in handling for auto-x. But, sure, you can auto-x without full coilovers, crap, you can auto-x totally stock.

So from what i read, a coilover setup will handle better then just replacing the springs? What is a good coil over setup to go with for mild autoX and mostly daily driving?

^^^For mainly daily driving and some autocross, you would be better off with just springs as they will be MUCH less expensive and generally provide a better ride than coilovers (esspecially cheap coilovers). Take a look at RCE, Pinks, or Swifts.
