Yep, no more speculation from me! I'll be doing my homework before I say anything else about which is better.

Maybe there's just something about the physical arrangement behind the Evo's wheels that makes the forward position advantageous.

This is with the 8/8's, right? I will definitely be interested to see how the adjustment plays out. Swapping springs is one thing, but I want to get the valving right the first time.
Well, after checking the coilovers tonight, I found out that due to operator error, while lowering the front a little too much, I had the bump adjustment touch the steering arm dust cover and as I turned the strut, it turned the bump knob to the stiffest setting (15) So, now I raised it about 4 mm at the front to free the knob and readjusted the fronts to 5. I also readjusted the rears to 3. So, one more day of testing tomorrow. The spring perch tightness was not making sense to me, but I thought that was the only adjustment I had made; well it wasn't lol. So, now, things should be alright in terms harshness; I'll report back tomorrow again.

What is interesting however, is that 6 clicks to stiff can make that much of a difference. Which is good news if that was the problem; it would mean that we truly have quite a bit a usable range in the bump adjustments for street and track

Wheeew, things are back to normal now with the bump settings 5f/3r. Harshness is gone, clunking is quite minimized (readjusted spring perches), and the ride is very liveable daily in my opinion.

Obviously, that is an opinion. I took my family for a ride this past weekend, when the bump settings were 10f/5r, and they found it unbearable and wanted off the STi and be immediately be put back into the Bimmer, LOL.

I am willing to give test drives to local people (Germatown, MD) that currently own and drive the STi daily to see what they think, so there are more than just my opion

Just uploaded a short interim report prior to our VIR testing, you might want to check the good and the bad

[quote="M"] Whoa!
Look closely at the brake caliper positions in this pic:

On the STi, the caliper is on the trailing side of the brake disc; but on the EVO, the caliper is on the leading edge. Calipers are more effective at stopping when they're located on the leading edge of the brake disc though it makes them more prone to locking up and puts them under more stress. This might explain why "the Brembo stoppers (a system nearly identical to that of the STi) halt the EVO from 70 to 0 mph in an impressive 157 feet. - C&D"; while the STi takes 166 feet to stop from 70 mph.

True but i think our cars from 80 mph overtake the evo in braking distance meaning it stops complete at a shorter distance. I think the higher speeds we start beating the evo in braking distance. Any how that evo looks soooo hottt!!

Yes, we do. As soon as return from VIR, I'll contact you, if we ever get to go to VIR actually; the car is still in shop as of this morning and we are waiting for the CV boot to arrive

Thank you very much.
