Default Have your Rear end links bent / flipped?

With all the reports of bent end links and flipped sways, I thought it might be good to get some statistics on number of STIs that have experienced bent end links, vs those that haven't.

For those with bent end links it'd be handy to have:
  1. Number of end links bent, 1 or 2
  2. Springs and sway on the when it bent/flipped
  3. Circumstances around the bend/flip
  4. Miles on your car at the time of failure
  5. Anything else you think is relevant.

This was on my 04 STi, 06 has had no problems so far.

1. 1 (broken in half)
2. Stock springs and sway
3. Unknown. The car was never tracked.
4. 34,000
5. Audible clunk could be heard from rear when suspension compressed in rear (usually uphill into driveways)

drivers side broke passenger side bent

will be installing the new bar and endlinks this coming up weekend, and will take more pics then. No wonder I've been hearing clanking in the back.

My rear sway flipped and bent both of my endlinks. If you want to see pics check my Journal.

2004 STi
  1. Both of my rear Endlinks were bent.
  2. JDM STi Pinks Springs and stock sways. (Front & Rear).
  3. Took a sharp turn somewhat quickly. Hit a small bump during the apex and then heard a loud thumping. Jacked the car up the next day and saw the flipped sway.
  4. 19,500 miles
  5. Nothing I can think of.

Look under the rear of your car.

Your stock Endlinks should look like this:

Notice how the swaybar is above the lateral link and upright.

Flipped Sway & Bent Endlinks:

Notice how the sway bar is no longer above the lateral link. The Endlink is also wrapped around the lateral link.

Thanks for explaining the flip thing to me. I found out what was causing the clunk. I bought the sway bars from Subaru and the rear bar was too short by about two inches and when I would go up driveways the bar would come down and hit a bar beneth it. Subaru is now trying to find me a bar that does fit.
