IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Ive done many searches but have not found exactly what i am looking for. I would like to know the HUB TO FENDER distance front and rear on both the stock STi suspension and with STI Pink springs... All I ever see is "lowers car one inch" and what not. But I would really appreciate some exact measurements. The reason I ask is I do alot of fine tweaking on my Megan Coilovers, and am currently at 13.5" front and 13.0" rear. I am playing with new setups of height/spring tension/damping/camber and want to see what I can do with height matched to STI Pink springs, using that rideheight as a basis to start from. Also a higher stance will be nice to have for winter .If you guys are interested, I can keep you updated on how each setup changes the particular "feel" of my car. Thanks. Yeah I agree. I have slowly been working up from the settings they were out of the box, a rediculous 13" front and 12.5" rear. Car looked like it was dragging ass everywhere. Even though it was that low, I found a pretty good damper setting, coupled with maximum camber ( only because i have crappy Fuzion all seasons on), the car rotates beautifully and completely neutral. I will start retuning, and will definately not be running max camber, once i get my Kumho MX's on this wednesday. I have been waiting to get good tires before i start diving into more agressive adjustments. Thanks for your input! I will get started on a new setup once i get my new tires on. | |

| Platinum Member | I think the numbers you are going to get will be all over the map. I have always maintainted that the pinks drop more in the rear than in the front, even though they are spec'd as being even. Even if the surface appears flat your numbers can easily be off by 1/4"+. Also, a lot of people have noticed that the car sits up to 1/4" lower on the driver side than the passenger side. FWIW, I typically measure once, turn the car around, and measure again to double check. Going back over my numbers from when I had pinks on: stock: 15.00 f, 14.25 r pinks: 14.50 f, 13.50 r That is 1/2" off in the rear vs kb2spn's 04 above. Those numbers look like they would give an extreme saggy-butt look. Also, my stock ride height in front is nearly 1/2" lower than what Doctor STi listed in his link above. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Thanks for all the info guys. I also did more research and read up on the camber curve and how it is affected by lowering a car too much. The STi Pink spring is the lowest id ever go, in fact, the stock STi rideheight i feel is perfect (although the Pinks will still show better handling characteristics). I managed to tune my coilovers a little around the new rideheight and wiht the Kumho MX tires. It felt alot better, and looked better too ( i dont like slammed cars). But honestly, they are just too stiff for the roads i have to deal with around here. If the suspension is too stiff to soak up the bumps, you just arent going to get traction. Also I just hit some financial walls so I am forced to sell my megan coilovers. So i am back to Stock suspension for now, and I am not exactly missing the coilovers (except adjustability). I love the higher rideheight and travel. Far more comfortable and i dont have to go slow over bumps/up driveways (which i hated, especially being in a subaru, come on its a rallycar). So once next spring comes along, i will most likely be buying a spec-c takeoff setup. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
