Default Swaybars clunk?

I installed some sways a week or 2 ago, and did not notice at first but now I am noticeing the car males a pop sound under certain circumstances. I am guessing its the sways hitting something since I installed those last, and this is a new issue. I have the Hotchkis street sways and Kartboy endlinks.

It sounds like a rock would sound hitting the fender (best desciption) or maybe the sound you might hear if someone were tapping the car with a hammer from below... and I mostly hear it from the rear end but every once in a while from the front. I hear it most when.... but not every time keep in mind.

- I cross RR humps ( I have slow down to 15-30mph depending on the hump)

_ I pull in my driveway (Yes I go very very slow)

- I let off the gas under medium or hard acceleration

- I punch it from idle ( hard to hear due to exhaust

Sometimes just out of the blue as I drive on a flat surface (very very rare)

Mid turn or just after I get straight not curvy roads, but turning left or right onto another road. (also pretty rare)

Please help.... this is not normal is it?

Make sure everything is greased up good and that the swaybar is aligned properly. The mounts are oriented correctly, right?

No, clunking is not normal.

Check your endlinks to make sure they're tight. I too started getting the same noises about 2 weeks after I installed my fsb. Sometimes the noise was clearly coming from the front. Other times it seemed to be coming from the back. I re-checked the all the subframe bolts and swaybar bracket bolts to be sure they were tight. They were and yet the noise persisted. I didn't check the endlinks at first because upon visual inspection they looked like they were tight and also the noise seemed to be coming from the rear of the car at times. The noises started to happen more frequently and I decided to check the endlinks because they were the only bolts I didn't check. Sure enough they were a little loose. After I tightened them up all the noises disappeared. I guess it just goes to show that from inside the car it is sometimes difficult to really pinpoint the true origin of a clunk or rattle.

it's just the endlinks, kartboy's make a ****load of noise.
take them all off and put silicone lubricant on the following:

the metal inserts
put the rubber things out, they are two pieces, put the lube inside where they sit
slide the metal inserts back in so they move freely.

viola.

btw - i'm 100% positive it's your endlinks, i had the same symptoms hence why i am replying lol.

I'll climb under there Sunday to check for all around tightness,,, but yeah I am certain everything was mounted correctly. Hopefully I just find a loose bolt/nut and can be done with it. STINY your circumstances of delayed onset seem to mimic mine the most so I am hoping I share your problem. Also I'll lube up those endlinks VSGTS14.

yup... I was in the same boat. For a few days I thought the clunking noise was coming from the rear strut but I did the "rear strut" test (jumping up and down on the rear) and couldn't re-produce the noise. Checked the mounting bolts... tight and good... Then I checked the endlinks nuts. My passenger side one was loose. I re-tightened it and the noise went away. Oh, I have WL 24mm RS with stock endlinks.

I have the exact same symptoms. I will check my endlinks as well. I would bet thats it though since many others have found and fixed the problem. I thought for awhile that it was the rear differential.

I'll be updating the thread above with picture and my findings as I had a chance to recheck the FSB endlinks again.

The rear diff can and sometimes will make popping/grinding noises in certain circumstances, like on a 90 deg turn into a sloped driveway, or on a turn when you lift a rear wheel.

Just some info for later when you know all the endlinks are lubed and tight but keep getting some funky noise.

I installed my rear Cobb sways with Kartboy endlinks and didnt notice any noise until today while driving slower and making a few turns.
I dont think its the bar, but infact the endlinks metal insert that i forgot to lube up.. i am gonna see if that does the trick

I'm gonna check my endlinks tonight... I have a similar clunking noise in the driverside rear. Mine is in more of a pattern clunk clunk clunk clunk at low speeds while only making slow left turns. It doesn't seem to be speed triggered as much as frequency or vibration triggered. The car doesn't feel loose and for a second I thought maybe my rotor was warped but I don't feel any pulsing on the break when I push it. Ive had the strut clunk issue before and it doesn't sound like that. Any other ideas are most welcomed. I have perrin Sways and endlinks.. had them for 4 or 5 months.

My endlinks are starting to clunk now too... Everything was fine for the first few days but now every time I go around a corner, it pops/clunks and I can feel it in the peddals and steering colum.

I tightened down all of the bolts as hard as I could with a wrachet set.... So they are good and tight... but still today it was clunking.

Not sure what to do now....

Might try and get the car off the ground and tighten everything up that way as well....??

Hmm. I have the same issue but it only makes clunking at uneven surfaces...kind of like if the rear wheels were hopping a bit on bad roads and yeah it does sounds like someone is down there with a small hammer tapping. Interested to see a solution.

My settings are front and rear whiteline swaybars and stock end links. Everything is thight so... Soon to have either Perrin or Kartboy endlinks. Would this help ease the clunks? Thanks.
