IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | yeah i have the same symptoms in my car. BUT my suspension is stock. The only thing i have modded is my Down pipe and cobb AP2. The clunking has been going on since i got the car used. It sounds like it is coming from the driver side trunk of the car. But the noise definitely sounds like a hammer hitting the underside of the car, but coming from the trunk. I thought it was some loose line in my truck just knocking against the metal on the trunk hatch. I have sat in the back seat and it is the loudest that, it also sounds like making something is loose inside my wing. And it only makes the noise when i'm making hard-ish left turns or going over bumps on the left side of the car. Does anyone think this is suspension related? This ad is not endorsed by this member. | dances with roads | MikeO, take a look under the car to make sure your swaybar has not 'flipped'. It's relatively common on STi's and would definitely cause noises. It's also not a great idea to drive the car with a 'flipped' bar because of potential damage to other suspension bits. Search this forum for more on swaybars flipping, there are a few thousand threads/pics. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I feel like my popping/clunking is only coming from the front of the car. I have stock endlinks on the front and Kartboy on the rear. I only get a clunk when going around a corner. However, should I take the rear endlinks off and grease the metal inside where the bolt goes through? |

| Junior STI Driver | I too am having quite a bit of clunking going on lately. Sounds kinda like the underpants nomes have struck up a band in the rear, but occasionally their percussionist wanders up front. On inspection, the rear endlinks are somewhat bent on the Cusco bar, and "at a funny angle". ("It's behind you Tyrone, when you back up, things come from behind!")On closer inspection, the left rear lateral link is also bent, seems to be torque related and not impact. So, I know why mine are making noise, but my question is does replacing stock endlinks with spherical joint ones grant the movement necessary to bypass the clunking, more so than the rigid mounts? Adjustable links should help as well, as running coilovers and aftermaket traction bars changes the endlink angles from vertical, where they should be. Just wanted to be sure before I picked some up with my Sti lateral links. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | After my swaybar install I had clunking too. It turned out to be a loose bolt. In order to avoid excessive noise, make sure those bolts are tight. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
