Default RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Regrets w/ Defi?

I just put a used Whiteline front strut bar on my STi and I am experiencing some vibration. The noise occurs after I've made a complete stop and accelerate from 4-8 mph. The vibration can be felt in the clutch pedal and it seems to be coming from the left strut.

I have checked everything that I know of...the AC lines are rubbing the strut bar because I haven’t figured a good way to relocate them besides pushing them back but I don't think that is the problem.

I am a bit depressed now, I just wanted a clean install...nothing's simple.

Anyone have any similar experiences with this type of noise/vibration after the install of a front strut bar?

You need to "rotate" the AC line that runs on the back of the intercooler. It is accomplished by removing one of the bolts that hold that bracket to the firewall, rotate the bracket and push the AC line down a bit to allow clearance for the strut bar. Did you do this? Or did you just push the line?

No I didn't do this, but when I was looking at the AC lines I thought about rotating the bracket but ran out of time last night so I threw on the strut bar. I really don't think that this is the problem though, its making a lot of noise and you can feel the car sort of shutter! So yes I pushed the line back and its rubbing on the strut bar. I am definitely going to fix this issue and hopefully this is the problem.

Its freakin me out as I don't want to fix anything important because of a $100 dollar part.

Thunder, thanks for your input. I agree with doing things correctly. This is usually not like me but like I said I ran out of time. What I'd like your opinion on though is do you think that the AC line would cause a lot of vibration in the clutch pedal as well? It doesn't make the noise or vibration at any time above 10mph or when I haven't come to a complete stop and then accelerated again.

The good news is that I still need to relocate the AC lines and that where the noise is coming from is evidently the same side the AC lines are rubbing.
