Guys

can you let me know what the various springs available for the 05 STI drop the car by??

I know Eibach is 1.2" front & .8" rear, and I heard that the Pinks are basically the same springs painted pink (true??).

I plan to put 18" rims ons.My mate has an STI with pinks & I still think it sits too high so exploring my options.

Anone know about white line, HKS etc??

Thanks gang

springs are the only suspension bit that you can carry over from the 04. so any spring you can find for the 04 will fit the 05

But how much do they drop the car by? Is there already a thread on this?

The pinks are not the same springs, they have different rates, and drop by a different amount.

bump for good info and because I am always trying to find this comparison table on spring rates + drops.

oh and fwiw, observed drop on my '05 for the JDM pinks is 1/2" in front and 3/4" in the rear. (measured twice and checked again, full tank of gas before and after.) Have been driven on for a couple hundred miles. Will check again after autox this weekend to see if any more settling occurs.

I would stay away from springs that drop more on the front (unless they're really stiff). You want an even drop, IMO.

austinpike, how are you measuring the drop?

ground to top of arch. pulled into the garage, measured. pulled out, turned around, backed into garage, measured. Just to rule out uneveness in the floor or anything like that. Did this before install and about a week after install. Relative drop is the same facing either way.

The rears look about right according to the list, 3/4" is ~ 20mm. The fronts are just not quite there, maybe they will settle more, or maybe the '05 strut is just a little different?

i have tanabes so im biased, but i think they are the best drop. More than the pinks, but not excessive like the tein-S. It also drops it a bit more in the front balancing the tire gap, because stock there appears more gap in the front.

This is tanabes with 18s. No rubbing no matter how hard I throw it into a corner, even with 2 in the back.

Anybody have the pinks tuned by Arai. How stiff is the ride? It has the highest rates according to the stats by Nhluhr. Is it livable for a street car?

I think Myles at Racecomp Engineering is running the Arai springs.

i would check out the tanabe springs for the 2005 sti. i have a 2005 and have the 04 springs, and the drop is good, maybe a bit too low for me. i think the drop for the 05 tanabe's is 1in front, .5in rear.

I found out from Crucial that the drop figures they post are for the WRX model. The drop for the STI is about half that amount (.5 front & .4 Rear) so it makes me wonder about the other numbers...

That makes two figures on the nhluhr list that might have to be updated. The other is for STi JDM pinks, which most folks have said drop their cars 20mm front and rear, not 10mm as the list says.

I just had GF210's installed on my 05 STi yesterday and I am very impressed! I thought it would be a much harsher ride, but it's actually a much better feel than stock in my opinion. 1" drop in the front and .5" drop in the rear.
