| Junior STI Driver | I'm currently riding on a set of AST coilovers. I love the ride, but I'm starting to really wonder if I need all the adjustability (read ride height) offered by them. To be honest, I've never corner weighted them and the need to align them whenever I adjust the height is a real downside for me. So, I'm thinking about going to a fixed perch strut. If I were to go back to stock, what could I do to improve the ride. I've read that the 05 struts ride on the bumpstops from the factory. Should I cut them down and give the stock struts another chance. Is the option of konis in 05 housings real, or am I just dreaming? This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (10) | Dont take this the wrong way ok......but.....you are riding on probably the most comfortable coilovers on the market.....what more could you possibly want? I say if it aint broke................. ![]() Better yet,...a TON of people on these boards and especially in this economy where wives are CRACKIN' down HARD on us enthusiast....( you must not be married )...and making guys sell either their STI's or the 5k in suspension parts they added to it. So 2 things: dont get married and or leave your suspension alone or both. To answer your actual question...NO...there are no other fixed perch options out there other than Ohlins, and I think you are already sittin' pretty with the AST's. Myles |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (10) | FD: IF you go back to stock, I would use a shorter bumpstop and get some Recaro Speed seats. The stock seats are a major contributor to the bobble head. Maybe some RCE blacks and group-n mounts. Or Prodrive springs and group-n mounts. That combo would be the best stock based strut idea you could get. My .02 cents worth. Myles |

| Junior STI Driver | I'm lucky in that the wife kind of understands (or just doesn't say to much about it). I'm not complaining about the comfort, just the care and feeding of coilovers. I'm rather obsessive about whether the ride height has settled a little or if my camber is off by .1 here or there. I like the idea of a set it and forget suspension. BTW, I have changed the stock seats out for stock 02 WRX seats, which IMO are the best combination of comfort, support, and price. |

| Junior STI Driver | Unfortunately for those insterested I think I've been talked off the ledge. I've got to go out and work on the ride height today again, though. Myles, any advice on making the adjustments stay. It seems like they settle out so often. |

| Authorized Vendor | We have been thinking of doing an install plan for people who want konis in their 05 strut housings. Just haven't quite figured out all of the details. Parts, labor and shipping would probably run 900-950 for everything. You send us your struts we send you your struts back with Konis. We have also talked about getting strut housings and selling them as complete units for 1100-1150. (probably going to get points for this, sorry) Not sure if there would be enough interest though. |

| Authorized Vendor | Yeah, but then we have to worry about the supply of used struts and their condition. What if we get one that's bent? We may not know it until it gets to the end user, they install it and go for an alignment and see that something is screwy. Not a good situation to have to deal with. On the other hand, it would be an awesome option for them. That would also include our bump extenders in the front as well to get some travel. These things would have about 2" more travel than the stock STI struts. Tony |

why not core charge the struts? so outright purchase option higest price tier, core charge lower price tier obviously with standard core charge rules, rebuild lower? for people like me who cant shell out the 2k+ for the TIC coils or the ohlins it would be a godsend to have konis,so the wife doesnt get pissed when she has to travel in my car/ and i still keep performance without breaking the bank win win for me anyway edit: just to clarify im sure the TIC and ohlins rock just beyond my single mod cost. not nocking them at all. ![]() Last edited by tonuprocker; 10-09-2008 at 12:07 AM. | |

| Authorized Vendor | We have thought about that as well. As long as people do not mind having their car down for a couple days we would definitely do it. We like Konis and would love to see there be more options for people. They are GREAT for a street and sport setup. Tony |
