Default Quick steering column

Has anyone tried this?

L and E Fabrication Quick Steering Columns

At less than half the price of a q-rack, it would seem to be a tempting alternative.

If you send in your stock rack after you have installed theirs, then th core charge would be taken off....at least that's how a core charge usually works. If you for some reason wanted to keep you stock rack and not send it in, then you would be charged a core fee. Basically, they will rebuild your stock rack with their components to sell to the next guy.

I have been semi interested in a quick rack setup lately, but the HUGE price of the Q-Rack has kept me from even considering it. I could handle this easier!

There's a bunch of info about this on nasioc if you do a search over there. I think it's gotten pretty good reviews in the past. I love my quick rack and I think it's worth every penny but this looks like a nice alternative.

im somewhat interested in trying this out myself. is the regular wrx column the same as the sti? i dont see why it wouldnt be... then all you have to do is buy one of these Original Type 1.5:1 Steering Quickener and install it the same way. it actually doesnt look to hard to fab up... might have to buy one and get the welder out

It's 2 turns lock-to-lock, which I believe makes it 11.5:1. And as a later post mentions, it's the column, not the rack.

From reading over on NASIOC, it seems like the only downside to this solution is that it introduces a tiny amount of play from the additional gears.

In absolute honesty, I have thought about doing this many times. I can't believe they exist and I didn't know it!
