someone wanna start a group buy thread for this...and contact L&E?

Also, a heads up to everyone with STI's. the column is gonna make the steering rediculously quick, less than 2 turns from lock to lock, which is what I want. I just wanted to make you all aware of that. However, the column increases the weight of the steering so at the same time its harder to over correct.

One thing worth mentioning is that I BELIEVE that these "quicker steering columns" remove a very important safety feature: the collapsible steering column.

Unless you are driving a car equipped with a cage and a 5-6 point harness, you would surely miss that feature if ever in a head-on collision.

I'd be sure that feature is still 100% intact beofre trying to save a few dollars.

I do not think that ~$1200 is a lot to ask for a steering rack. People pay that much for a run of pipes from the turbo the the trunk. They don't have to be precision engineered like steering gears.

I could easily spend more on a set of new rubber and pads.

You bring up a good point fullerton, L and E modifies the stock steering column, so its the same column, but with a few additions. I'll try to contact L and E and see what they have to say about this.

Now, I do not know how much compression is normally available, but 1.5" does not sound like much of a safety margin to me. I'd say you will be driving these on the street at your own risk.
