Really? I love those wheels on the '08s.

I've seen them on the previous generation and they don't look so good, though.

The drop looks awesome. I test drove an 08 last week and I have to say it definitely has alot of a softer and smoother ride compared to my 07 when it still had the stock springs. I've had RCE Yellows on my 07 for about a month and I am really happy with them. I am planning on purchasing an 09 STI and I will definitely return to RCE for another set of springs.

As I was test driving the 08, my first thoughts were that with a set of aftermarket springs, this car would behave slightly firmer and tighter without taking too much from the softer feeling ride which alot of people would enjoy if this was their daily driver... after the test drive, my 07 felt like a tight go-kart and the feedback from the road was instantly more obvious compared to the 08. I can see how some people would say the 08 has alot of a softer ride.
I will definitely be purchasing another set of springs from Myles when I do get an 09 next spring. Great job and thx for keeping us posted on your research.

^ We're definitely happy with how the car responded to the springs. Starting with a rear shock instead of a bouncy, clunking, stiction prone, inverted rear strut is a HUGE help.

So is the '08 model a case where coilovers may offer a bigger advantage as you have more design flexibility in attempting to get as linear a rate as possible while maximizing "bump travel".

I haven't seen too many 08 sti's on the street. Doesn't seem like they are all that popular.

It's pretty rare to see an 08 wrx actually.

We've got a surprising number of 08 STis running around here, but almost no 08 WRXen.

08 springs are in production. So 4-5 weeks for those.

08 sway proto's are days away, prob 1 week from pics.

04-07 STI sways : rear DONE and on truck to us. Rear bushing (final) mold done and test bushing on way to us. Front final test bar here Wed. Front bushing DONE and fine.

Me=happy !!

thanks for the enthusiasm guys. I was at the Perry meet in VA Sunday and looked under Corey's car and those green proto's just jumped out and said...." Bonjour"..lol. Talk about French Green....lol.

Myles,

Is the '08 travel limitation in the strut/shock?

What do you think of the idea of using lowering camber plates front and rear (just pillowball mounts rear) and keeping the springs longer. Would this help with some of the travel limitations?

I would be happy to test prototypes if you agree!

well that is totally what we are doing with the lowering plates anyway which will fit the Legacy as well. Non lowering also. We are working on this now but like most projects....it takes time.

No worries, i will update soon.

That's a very nice looking drop, Myles. Doesn't take much to get that flush look with the '08. Sadly, it's not enough to make the base wheels look any better and, at 28lbs, they're too porky for my taste.
