Default Carbon Fiber Doors

Is Seibon my only option? Anyone done them? I'd like to see some pics.

Should I do the doors and Spec C glass at the same time to save on labor?

I'm wondering if I should buy an extra set of "door guts" so that I can bolt and unbolt the stock and CF doors as an assembly as needed.

I'm also thinking of doing that CF roof with a bud of mine. We want to order 2 to save on shipping and labour possibly. I figure the roof and glass all should be done at once (at least the front and rear glass)... door glass can be done later.

Why do glass? Why not plexi? Wouldn't it be lighter?

Cuz plexi sucks. I've run it before. that is for a pure race car only. It scratches easy and doesn't let light through at the proper angles... it distorts images.

My car is a daily driver.

I heard 22 lbs on the glass, 13 lbs on the roof, about 80 lbs on the doors.

But is most of that weight the safety structure in the doors? That's what I'd be most curious to know, because the safety structure isn't something I'd remove and it looks quite heavy. The inside liner of the door is plastic and light already, so the only weight savings I can think of are from the exterior sheet metal. (Don't I remember reading you already switched to manual windows?)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. This is all just from upon examination from stripping my two damaged doors after my car got hit.

The front doors only have two real "fixed" (as in welded to the inside of the door) structural safety supports in them, the rear door only has one. The rest of the safety structure comes from two braces that also work with the window mechanism. The rest of the strength comes from the way the metal is folded and shaped to make it stronger. I'd think the seibon doors resemble the same internal structural supports as a OEM door.

The first thing I thought of when I lifted my rear door with all the internals and glass was wow, someone can easily save a lot of weight with lighter doors. The savings would be huge, as Anorexic said already.

Had my internal guts not been damaged, I could have sold you passenger front and rear everything for super cheap, but the majority of it had some bad deformation

I have all of the 4 doors window motor slider and anything else you need from inside of the door.

I have weld in a 8 point roll cage and my factory doors are all plasma cut to save weight. I will post picture of my cut doors for you to see.

If you need anything from inside or all the switches from all the doors, please let me know. I can sell it for good price.

your not worried about crash safety with carbon fiber doors? i like the weight loss and the look but for a daily driver it's a little much. Here's a pic i have from the Seibon doors i took at the SEMA show
