Default Where Do I Draw The Line?

So, now that im stage 2 and happy with the extra kick in the arse, i would like to get rid of the ugly ride height and make the car handle a little better.
Im still in the research stage, but i was thinkin, if i order this, might as well do this, then i can do this, blah blah blah....

As a final result i would like to run some coilovers, but i would rather wait on those for a while and get some springs.

So, i was thinking, RCE Yellows, Whiteline sways F+R 24mm adjustable for both, and kartboy endlinks. Then i thought do i need top hats or should i get top hats? and it kinda escalated from there... im not looking to go over the top for the suspension.... right now.... but i would like to get the car sitting better and handling better... would also like to compete in an auto-x event or 2 this season, and dont wanna go to the point where im stuck w/ a very modified, very experienced crowd since i haven't done an autox before....

Any suggestions are welcome

That sounds like a nice, not too crazy setup. May want to consider some camber plates for the front though.

Then later on when the stock struts are worn out, if you decide to keep the car for a long time, you can add some Ohlins fixed perch struts and have a really nice setup.

Would the camber plates in the front replace the top hats? i think group n makes em. what are the benefits? as for the struts, i know those fixed perch are top o da line, but i am planning on running coilovers, just not gonna be for a while

Since we're talking about complimenting a stage 2 powered car, I think I can make complimentary stages for suspension:

Stage 1 suspension: add RCE sway bars (or brand of your choice, 22-25mm recommended by me front and rear) and Kartboy rear endlinks, max out front camber to -0.9 degrees*

Stage 2 suspension: add TiC coilovers (or brand of your choice, but TiC recommended by me), again max out front camber to -2 degrees (good aggressive street camber, but a smidge low for track)

Stage 3 suspension: add wider, lighter 17" wheels and 245+ wide tires, camber plates to -3 degrees, other geometry adjustments such as roll center adjusters and an "anti-lift kit", bracing such as the CarLabs X-brace and TiC fender cowl brace

* For frequent autocrossers or HPDE drivers, camber plates should be among the first modifications (in stage 1), along with appropriate brake pads, fluids, and other prep. High-temp brake pads and fluid should be used even on a stock car for track days, thus I don't consider them "staged" upgrades, but more horsepower = more energy that will eventually go into the brakes.

I'd suggest getting the RCE front lowering/non-lowering (whatever you preference is) camber plates, this way they will be stiff mounts of course, and you will be able to utilize them when you get coils I believe.

Otherwise get the group-n's.

Your setup is solid though.

I'm on RCE blacks, whiteline 27mm front and 24mm rear w/ kartboy rear endlinks and absolutely love the ride. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks stretch, i noticed you didn't add springs in at all. and the car wont be stage 2 forever... Im planning on a larger stock mount turbo, fmic, etc... so stage 4 or whatever you wanna call it power wise.... probably wont be going rotated, and its gotta remain a DD... i know very very little about suspensions, toe, camber, caster, all that lingo... just looking to lower the car to get rid of the hideous wheel gap, and make it handle a little better, FOR NOW..... like i said though down the road, i would like coilovers, and i would like to get into autox.... i was looking at the zzyzx coilovers, but i dont really know what i should be looking at... any insight and i can take a look at the TiCs.... PM me or feel free to post in here so others may benefit

Thanks Jordan, no one answered though about the group n stuff and camber plates, im not sure what is what, or what replaces what etc.... need a good hard schooling on the suspension subject... i also think the 27mm bar would be too much, i talked to someone whose got it and he cant stand it at highway speeds, says it makes the car way too squirrely for his taste... i've also been talking to boostjunkie about the RCE bars and im considering them

One more time for good measure:
Would like something simple to compliment a stage 2 power increase, BUT, a larger turbo is planned, so its only natural to plan for a more in depth suspension, like coilovers. I have never done an auto-x event, but would like to try at least 1 this season and maybe more, hopefully more. HPDE is always open in my mind, but theres not many tracks within a reasonable distance so the car wont be setup for such events. Car will remain a DD, was hoping to get 18" wheels, somewhat aggressive offset and running at least 245 wide tires, on the street.... ask me more questions if you want, thanks for the input you guys posted

And coils I'd consider in the future if I was in your position would be Cusco, RCE T2's, KW Variants, TiC, Tein, in that order....

Of course do research and find what's best for your needs and what you want to do with the car. This is my order of preference but a good list of brands and setups to look at when deciding.

Good recommendations, except for cusco's and teins.

TIC or RCE T2's are a much better choice. Just reaize what you wanna do with the car and decide between those two coilovers.
