Default Bilstein PSS10

Looking for any additional information about this new coilover that Bilstein currently has released for Porsche and BMW.

As we've discussed in the past, the PSS9 system that this replaces had an adjuster that wasn't able to keep valving settings uniform across all four shocks according to Dennis Grant.

During the Prodrive RB320 R&D, the PSS9 internals were ruled out because they couldn't get them to give the valving range that were required.

Dan at Prodrive mentioned in one post about the promise of the PSS10 doing a much better job at adjusting the valving in the shock.

It's now finally out, but not for any other makes but BMW and Porsche. Could anyone with a Bilstein contact inquire about any plans for an STi PSS10 system? I tried calling both the West and East offices, but its after hours here and the West shop didn't pick up.

Thanks!

Yeah, the new design allegedly has a much improved adjuster. However, the worth of this is completely unknown since we haven't even got a PSS9 dyno to look at! (Some PSS9 dynos only had a few distinct settings, certainly not nine, and the adjustment range was awfully strange- but not all models seemed to be affected, very weird.)

Unfortunately, I haven't known suspension companies to go back and redo models for cars. (If they did, I'd be begging Koni for a set of FSD dampers!)

I really wish we could get an STi Bilstein PSS9 set on the dyno.

Luckily for us optimists, Bilstein HAS gone back and released the PSS10 for older car makes like the E36 and E46 cars, along with older Porsche models as well. I'd like for a vendor with contacts to do some digging for us if possible. I'd really appreciate it to know if Bilstein will update our offering as well.

Spoke with Dan in R/D department on West Coast. PSS10 will replace PSS9 for all applications when current stock is depleted in Germany. Since Euro applications are good sellers they are already moving quite a bit of PSS10 kits for those cars. When I asked about Subaru he felt since it was not one of big movers it may take quite a bit of time till we see PSS10 for our application. He actually was speaking in terms of years rather than months.........

Thanks Barry, thats exactly what I wanted to know. Hopefully more people buy the PSS9s to speed this up, haha.

Sounds like they keep the exact same shim stack and replace only the bypass valve (the adjuster), otherwise going back and updating models would require R&D to start over. Interesting.
