depends on your driving style along with a few other factors.

I think for any spring on stock struts( STI) they tend to last into the 70-80k range....BUT The rears are what tend to clunk sooner than later. So the real focus should be on packing the rears with Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease to prevent the clunk from happening.

quick step list

raise the car
take off the wheels
remove the struts
remove the top hat and spring .
remove the lower nut on the bottom of the strut
grab a friend and play tug a war with the strut

then start packing with grease . i recommend astroglide !

Well my 04 went about 70k before it clunks, BUT my driveway requires that the inside wheel come off the ground each day. So I would alternate this and THAT may have moved the grease packing around enough each time that it never clunked. Not to mention that with all the suspensions I was trying from 03-07 the car was off theground ALOT. Simply put,.....some people with slight clunking have noticed if they put a hydraulic jack under the car over night in the rear end....that for a day or so the clunking goes away !! So who knows. Yeah some have clunking at 5k on new cars. One thing is for certain...the 08's wont have this issue !!

I thought RCE would make a strut for cheaper price than Ohlin...
Is there any plan at this point?

How bout RB 320 kit? Unfortunately price has soared to $2700-- originally they were $2k shipped and provide terrific ride and great handling.
