Default positive camber up front... bent knuckle

I wanted to post this as a "red flag thread" for people who may encounter this issue in the future. Not sure it has much relevance until people start doing searches, and it comes up.

since buying my car, found that it had positive camber on the front left corner. (the previous owner later admitted that he hit a curb) set about to fix it and after many hours of measuring, diagnosing, and fitting parts, we determined the knuckle was slightly bent. This was the last item on our list to check, as we surely thought the strut would bend first (not the case), then the lower control arm (not the case), then the front subframe (nope) or the strut tower (nope). The knuckle is solid cast iron, but the impact must have just tweaked it enough.

we pulled the knuckle and compared it to the new one, and sure enough, it was bent about 1/4 of an inch at the most. We fitted a new knuckle, wheel bearing (2005 all-in-one style), and axle nut, and now I have plenty of camber adjustability as intended. coilovers/camber plates would have been a bandaid to the issue, but I couldn't drive my car on the track with messed up parts. Heck, I was losing sleep over it...

thanks to o2sys for his input and feedback.

Default Re: positive camber up front... bent knuckle

Sounds like what I had....

Knuckle on the right was bent back. This was a larger angle from the imaginary line between the two strut bolts to the face or plane of the hub and wheel studs. I too bought a new knuckle, and bearing and swapped them out without any other camber-less issue.
