Default Durability of aftermarket struts/shocks ? -Ohlin FPS

My experience with Bilstein heavy duty shocks and Bilstein sport strut-shock
kits is they last 200,000 miles and the first 100,000 miles' performance will be
much better than stock/OEM.

Reading here about coil-overs, I see rebuilds at less than 50,000 miles, and
even swapping out for winter.

My 2005 STi with 44,000 miles has worn/leaking rear shock tubes (causing the
infamous low speed clunking). Would replacement shocks/inserts, or whole
struts like the Ohlin fixed perch struts last longer than stock/OEM in a daily
driver ?

If the vendor picture shows two front struts, does the price and package
include rear struts as well ?

I would wager good money that the Ohlins FPS would meet the long term mileage needs you've come to expect from the Bilstein product. The price and package from RCE includes all 4 struts that you'll need.

i honestly dont think many people around here have had their car for 200,000 miles let alone with aftermarket suspension...so that is kind of moot at this point in time.

and it includes all 4, i bought mine from RCE.

I believe that Ohlins has stated that the FPS don't require rebuilds. That would seem to me that they are designed for a long life.

That pic shows 1 front and 1 rear. The pricing is for all 4 units (2 front and 2 rear).

Longevity really depends quite a bit on how you drive the car, and what springs are on it.

I guarantee that the dampers will last longer for someone who just daily drives the car vs. someone who races every weekend.

I can also guarantee that the damper will last longer on a setup that doesn't slam the car (ala stock or mild drop springs) vs. a setup where someone slams the car (ala Tein S-tech springs).

In the end the aswer is it depends. I know that's not a good one, but there are too many variables at play. Given all other things being equal, and all that you have replaced are dampers then the higher quality aftermarket setups will live longer.

All very true, but if he's gotten 200k out of Bilsteins before, this particular user should get the same from the Ohlins, IMO.

Why don't you just get Bilsteins then? The prodrive kit uses Bilseins and I believe it is available again.
