Default Help figuring out steering problem

I have noticed that recently while taking harder turns at around 30-40mph the steering wheel becomes extremly stiff while turning almost like its locking. Could it be that my powersteering pump or belt is going? The thing is during normal driving my steering wheel seems fine.

I also noticed during cold startup when i turn the wheel there is a whining sound almost like when you hear old beaters needing a new timing belt. (Though it also happens when i don't move the wheel so I also be needing a new timing belt since im at 41,000 miles.)

If anyone has any info on this please help, i rather not take it to the dealer unless i have to.

If it whines like a jet in the cold mornings, it is the power steering pump.

mine when out on my 06 when i had it....they told me it was the drive belts...get home and the next morning? whiiiiineeeee .....gosh damit :x anyways....yea, its like $720 to repair :/

mine whines louder if i turned the wheel while warming up to...its annoying

I need help figuring out my steering problem or else i can't start my autox season.
I have noticed that recently while taking harder turns at around 40mph + the steering wheel becomes extremely stiff while turning almost like its locking. Could it be that my powersteering pum? The thing is during normal driving my steering wheel seems fine. It s not the alighment i don't think because it feels just fine during normal driving.

prob is your power steering pump..but you should also check the fluid level.
