Default Need advice on Ground-control / JDM Pink setup

Hi,

I am looking for some advices.

Current situation:

- 2006 STi
- Daily driven
- Track 1 or 2 times per year
- Car need to set back to stock height for Winter

Goals:

- improved handling
- delete god damn 2006 suspension bounciness
- lower the car in summer
- Same relative comfort as the stock setup.

I was thinking about a Ground-Control setup with stock shock. Spring rates will be the one from the JDM Pink Springs since they seem to go well with stock shocks. I know that the spring on the GC are not prgressive like the JDM pink one.

Based on the fact stated above, what is your advice?

thanx a lot for your time.

Mart

I have to make a quick comment on the stock suspension "bounciness"...I've installed the RCE Yellows and Prodrive springs and never found the "bounciness" to go away. It may have changed but it never went away. I think it is the seats for the most part but I would also say it is just the nature of the car and how it is supposed to feel.

If you're concerned about the height in winter, about it being DD, tracked once or twice a year...i'd stick with the prodrive springs and call it a day. look to get yourself a set of sways and I think you'll be happy.

I agree with parker. If you want to lower/raise the car at your convenience, you're going to need coilovers. If you simply want to lower it some without killing the comfort and suspension geometry, Prodrive springs (or RCE Black springs for a stiffer performance-oriented ride) + RCE lowering camber plates might be a good way to go. And as Parker said, sways will make a handling difference.

In my experience - do not let the "raise the car in the winter" attract you towards coilovers. Its much easier said than done.

Are you willing to commit to at least 2 alignments per year?

^ have to agree with this guy. I went to coilovers, not just for the height in the winter but for summer balance and better performance, its a ***** each season to get an alignment. Once you raise it for the winter, you need one, go lower for the summer again, you need one.

Unless you have access to an alignment guy that hooks you up, or you do it yourself. Stick to one or the other.

I got lazy and kept my summer height, about 3.5-4.5'' of clearance for this whole winter. The lip makes for a great snow plow. +1 for ravspec lips, it took out snow drifts/winglets like it was its job!

If you have a local firestone shop near you check em out! They offer lifetime alignments for as long as you own the car. Mine was $150 one time cost. I can go in there anytime I want they pull me up in their computer "oh you have the lifetime alignment." Yes I do I'd like # camber front, # camber rear, # toe front, # toe rear. See you in an hour thanks! So far I've gotten 3 alignments anyway I want them, not a single issue!

It's pretty sweet! Of course I drop the car off with the rear seat already removed (rear camber plates as well), so they appreciate that.

I have already done the suggested seat mod to cure the bubble head effect and it doesnt work.

Any others input? I am leaning toward a permanent JDM sti pink spring over stock schocks setup..

I also have the firestone deal - took a couple times to find a good mechanic who knew his ****, but once you find one, the deal is WELL worth the $150 charge.

now back on topic...if bounciness is your main concern, do seats first.
if handling is your main concern - sways.

again, I don't think you'll find the fix you're looking for with the JDM setup. coilovers may be your best bet honestly.

and if you don't have any man boobs, consider yourself very blessed.
