Default Having a steering problem I think?

If I go over 40mph the car starts to feel funny. It feels like I'm sliding on ice or floating on dry pavement or the tire and rim are coming off. When I'm driving down the highway every like 3 min. the car just pulls to driver side. It feels like it's windy out and the wind just tried to blow me off the road. It just dose it and stops. The steering is tight still. If I turn the wheel to the passenger side it's tight and the front wheels follow the steering wheel. If I turn the wheel to the driver side it has about 2" of play in it and when it hits that 2" on the steering wheel the front wheels jerks to catch up with the wheel. Guys this is everything that is happing and it's getting scary now. Sorry it's hard to describe the problem. At first I thought the log nuts where lose or a rim was out of balance but there all fine. The tire psi is right on. I check it every weekend. The alignment seems fine to me to. If I let go of the wheel it's straight and then all of a sone it vers to the left.

My sti started doing this in the fall. I thought it was the summer tires, but when I put the winter tires on it had the same problem. It has been getting bad now. I'm starting to feel unsafe in my car. I just rotated the winter tires and the same problem.

What's up with my car? Dose anybody have ideas?

Thanks

Very strange...first I would say tires but since you had them rotated that somewhat rules them out.

1.) Did you hit anything lately

2.) Bent rim

3.) Bent suspension parts

4.) Blown strut(s)

5.) Blown steering parts/bushings etc.

6.) Bad allignment...just cause you are driving straight doesnt mean you alignment is f'ed...

1) I did not hit anything lately. I did hit a snow bank with the front of the bumper last winter at 3mph with just a little spidering in the paint. It is almost a year know.

2) I use the stock BBKs for summer and I bought rims with the winter tires for winter. And the problem is with both rims.

3) know idea, I guess I"ll look.

4) Well They seem fine but they do make noise when I jack up or lower the car?

5) know idea, I guess I"ll look

6) Well I guess I can get a alignment, next weekend. This is my first awd car, I have no idea how it should acted if the alignment is off. I have never got alignment for her, but I have had her for 2.5 years and she has 29.5k on her. And I bought her with 3 miles.

suspension is stock, the only parts I added are in the sign.

I would surely get it aligned...you could have a bunch of toe and it still might drive straight...another thing is the alignment tech will give your suspension bits a good look over and should make sure nothing is out of wack.

How are the grooves cut on your highways? This might seem like a strange question, but some roads have them cut the same direction as you travel, causing a wierd pulling sensation on the wheel.

Yep I know about that and that's not the problem, thanks though

Ok I went on a nice S turn road today. The steering is nice and tight acts like it should if I turn to the passenger side like I said above. When I turn to the driver side, the steering feels so light like there is know tires grabbing the road. I can't feel the road at all. And every time I turn the wheel to the driver side fast to about 90 degrees I hard I loud pop It sound like it's coming from the passenger rear strut.
.
That's the update for today
