Default Getting an alignment under warranty

So i recently had an off center steering wheel problem and i took my car in to the dealer to get an alignment. Apparently it is like pulling teeth to get the stealership to do this under warranty.

The shop manager was giving me all kinds of crap saying this is normally a wear and tear thing and that it could have been my driving. He also kept going on that new tires i got (960A/S), could have caused this. WTF am i supposed to drive on 070 for 3 years or 36 months??

They were being quite unreasonable. The only thing that saved me was the fact that mechanic who evaluated my car was on my side. After 20 minutes of haggling the shop manager told me that they will cover it only this one time.

Is this normal? Has anyone else tried getting an alignment under warranty with different results?

No alignment yet, but from what I have heard about some dealerships, that seems status quo. FWIW they replaced my wiper blades (a wear item, AFAIK) at my last visit. What would they tell me if I asked, that the fluid I used caused the bad blades? I think it totally varies by area. Some dealers are great, some are much less so.

You should ask them about adjusting camber to soemthing other than stock!

Its not very common to have alignment covered by warranty. There are just too many factors out there that could screw up an alignment to justify Subaru paying for it.
