Well the 06 struts won't just bolt up to your 04. They have slight different tabs(mounts) that bolt to the knucle. You would need knuckles from an 05+. So I would just put the springs on the 04 sturts.

When you pull your 04's off pull the struts apart - regrease them, and cut the front bump stops.

You can't just buy some part and make it work. You'd have to convert to '05 or newer hubs. ($$) And you want it to roll right? You'll need '05 or newer rims ($$). And this is being VERY simplistic about it, mind you.

$$$$$ Get the picture?

The only way you can get 06 struts to fit is to install 05+ knuckles/hubs which has its benefits but cost a little. (look at the hub swap thread) Like above said re grease them and they should stop clunking.

Your struts will clunk NO MATTER what you do. You can take it to the dealership and replace them once every 3 months. I'm sure it's still in your warranty plan..i may be wrong though. How many miles do you have on your car now?
