Default Tein Struts + Cusco Rear Camber Plates - This Right?

So I have Cusco rear camber plates on top of my Tein Coilovers. Look at this picture and see if this is right.

My beef is this. Is/are the top strut pearch(s) (gold looking piece in the pic) supposed to be sitting fush on the rear adjustable plates? Seems wrong to me. Reason why is the rear pillow ball is practically worthless. If no weight is on the car the rear pearch is ****eyed on the plates. Not bad but I can feel it. Once the weight of the car is on them it (the pearch and plate) sits flush. The front camber plates sit on a cone shaped pearch which allowed the pillow ball to move freely when deflected (sorry no pics). If the rears had a cone shaped top pearch this wouldnt seem to be a problem to me.

I could order the top pearch similar to the fronts and I believe they will fit the same, I would have to pull the fronts to make sure. Any advice or help would be appricated.

Thanks...

Yeah, it really bothers me. I may have to order the front pearch from Tein. It drives nice...no issues or pops...so far.

definitely not looking right. The camber plate is supposed to pivot. thats why there is a pillow ball.

looks like you're missing all the washers & spacers

I just put mine together

The washers and spacers are there...you just cant see them...they are behind the top pearch.

If that was you that called earlier, now I can see what you are talking about. I think there is something from the Teins, that is missing, like a to perch that mates to top ledge of the Teins, then the camber plate goes on top.

Yeah, that was me. So I figured out that the top pearch (the gold ring) is for fixed upper mounts, like the stock top hats. What I have to do is order a rear top pearch that allows for a pillow ball upper mount (i.e. the Cuscos plates).

I guess me next question is...can I autox my car like this? The plates do recess into the top pearch and there is no slop. Granted I cant camber out the plates like I want. This will not be permanant, only for a short while untill I can get the rear top pearch in. All said...I certanly dont want to eff something up either. I took it for a ride last night and everything was fine...only real disadvantage I can see is the pillow ball is non-functional and I cant slam the camber.

I would air on the side of caution if it were me. Then again..I drove my STi in the snow on 070's and slid thru the median grass and into the other side of the road (missed cars) and turned into the burger king and went thru the drive thru and only the Burger king people saw it !! ( i used the bathroom after ordering a # 2).

no, you cannot autox like that. In fact, you cannot even daily drive like that. The suspension arms (lateral links) move in an arc as the suspension moves up and down. As part of that arc you need an anchor at the top that will pivot. This setup will not allow it to pivot.

The end result will be one of three things depending on load:
Suspension that does not move at all
Bent lateral links, strut body, or clevis
Sheared stud at the top of the damper

I would assume the #2 was ordered when you started through the median...

lol....no actually, I had been backwards before many times, but it was the on coming traffic that was luckily scattered and I miss them all. So this happened in one grand "looking" sweep that ended with a smooth transition into the Burger King. I did actually wet my pants. I drove home at 10mph.

Just replace the rear springs with Schedule 40 and you'll be fine.

Use 710's in front and street tires in back.

Excuse the n00b question but, how does the stock rear top hat or GroupN top hat allow suspension to pivot?

:
My question is this...the stock top mounts have no pillow ball or any pivot point. How does the stock top mounts account for this movement? Just through the rubber deflecting alone?

Well Tein is working to find a top pearch to fix the issue. I will just go back to the stock top mounts in the meantime.
