I hate to say this, but...

If I had to do it all over again, I would have sold the car and bought something else. I understand track days are hard on a car, but I should get more than two of them out of a car before having to perform any serious maintenance like wheel bearings. It's like taking a stock car to a drag strip and only getting eight runs out it before the clutch goes out. Unacceptable.

That said, I am extremely happy with the car after the swap. '05 wheel bearings combined with a brake master cylinder brace and Whiteline steering rack bushings mean I have a car that doesn't have an inch of vague, random slop in the brakes and steering.

red5001, that's a good question. I don't know, but I would like to know the answer so I can get a set of '05 bolts if I eventually need to take the coilovers off the car.

Wasn't sure if anyone new off the top of there head. Or it maybe the struts I am putting on that are not stock.

Thanks
It should not be any different as the limiting factor is the clevis width. Are you sure that's the stock bolt or was it swapped at some point in time?

It is the stock bolt. I will double check tonight and take a measurement.

Well with the 05 knuckle the lower strut bolt doesn't have any threads showing when you tighten the nut. Is this how it normally is? I didn't think it was but I don't have an old strut to compare to. I do have a old knuckle and they are about 1/4 thinner then an 05. I would assume the lower strut bolts should be about a 1/4 inch longer. My after market struts have the same clevis thickness as the stock 05. So maybe I need an 05 bolt?

I have a set of '05 struts sitting next to my old '04 struts. Tomorrow after work I'll take a measurement to see if the '05 struts are wider where they bolt to the knuckle. That should answer the question.

I also have my '04 bolts, so I'll see what they look like in the '05 struts.

The '05 struts are roughly a 1/4" wider where they bolt to the knuckle. After measuring I moved the bolt over from the '04 struts to the '05 struts and it still looks like they should work though. The bolt was on all the way with some room to spare.

That said, I'd consider ordering some new bolts anyway. They can't cost all that much and you only need the front ones since the rear struts are identical.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I stopped at the dealer and ordered some new bolts. They will take a day or so (not in stock). I will post back when I get a set of the new 05 bolts and see if there is a difference.

Good call. Please let us know if the bolts are different or not. Because if they are I'll also need to get a set.

Well I picked up the new bolts at the dealer today. the 05 bolts are a tad longer (measured 5mm longer). So not much but enough to give me a few threads sticking out past the nut. A few threads showing is good practice so for ~ $4 each per bolt it not a bad idea to get the newer 05 bolts.
