Default linear moderate rate springs with konis?

I would like to get spring rates of afound 350/300 with wrx take offs and koni inserts. It seems to me that all the aftermarket springs are too compromised for my needs (read wants). The obvious answer is ground control sleeves but I have a few issues and worries about this setup. Mostly I really do not like the idea of the sleevs sitting on the struts. I want the springs to be mounted in such a way that they are still seated in full droop. My question is this: Is there an ideal way to build a system to get standard coilover springs on the struts? I have access to a lathe and layout tools to design the necasary parts. I donot care about height ajustability and could concieve of building a 'fixed perch" koni based strut for standard springs. Does anybody have any thoughts on this subject? Are my ground control worries unfounded? I was thinking of using something like rce lowering top plates so as to maximize available bump travel and make the free strut length a little longer for the required ride hieght. Basically I want a fixed perch system with no compromises over coilovers (except no ride hieght adjustment). Am I asking too much? The only problem is mounting the lower perch to the housing I think and also getting all the measurments right. I think a mild steel machined lower perch welded to the housing in the right spot could work. Any input is appreciated....

You are going to have a very very difficult time (impossible) finding truly linear springs in a stock strut style setup. The differing diameters at top and bottom pretty much guarantee a progress rate unless you find a spring that winds precisely for this or uses a progressively thicker wire.

thanks, my post must have been clear, however. I am considering an alternate way of using standard coilover springs with the struts other than ground control sleeves. I am looking for input on this and wonder if my ground control hesitations are warented.....

let me re-read that and get back to you.

As for the GC sleeves - Tony ran them for a good while and did just fine with them. I know there's a number of folks out there that have never had a problem with the setup.
