04 lower control arm (front) 04 STi

Is there a difference between 04/05 lower control arms and 06/07? Are the 04 sti lower control arms made out of aluminum?

The 04 and 05 are aluminum. I don't remember when the switch was, but I'm pretty sure the 07's at least at stamped steal.

There was an article from Subaru in Performance mag that stated the Limited and maybe the regular STI's were to have steel control arms and other bits but as I know those who have check including my 07 STI Limited have the Aluminum versions. The other differnce is thaat the 05's have the Spec C version as OEM US Equpment with more caster. This changed and went back to the non-spec C version in 06.

The 07 has a different part number than the 04-06...the 07s are aluminum, but I believe they are the non-Spec C versions....based on the 07 having the 99.5" wheelbase compared to the 04-06's 100" (with the spec C arms)

Bingo. Also the 04 and 05 may differ slightly due to the tab placement for the endlinks. This is from the long switchover history of front bars.

Then what are the 04's lower control arm made out of? i ordered a control arm from the dealership for my 04 sti and it was aluminum... It even says that on the receipt.. 04 sti lower aluminum control arm

They are Aluminum!

If you really need to check you can always try the magnet test.

04-07 are ALL aluminum...just differing geometry.

Oh and I also forgot...the 07s have the little tabs for mounting roll sensors (even though the USDM cars don't have the sensors)

Then why do the control arm kits for the say 04-07? Would there be a negative affect putting the 07's on over the 04's on a bugeye?
