I don't really care how much power it has as long as it looks like that, rwd, and is under 3000lbs. The engine better be close to the firewall.

Edit: The only thing that annoys me about the look is the dual exhaust. Seriously? Another 4 banger with a dual exhaust? People need to get over themselves so automakers don't feel the need include such a useless feature. They should just do it baller style and have a single center exit out the diffuser like on the evo X fq400.

I'm not into cars that are all show with little go.
Toyota is so obsessed with reliability, that they have become boring and devoid of passion.

I want more details on what the FT-86 is packing under the hood... some of the sites quoted it as the "C45 Boxer" for whatever reason, but it seems to using Toyota D-4S... which means 4 cylinder, direct injection boxer with decent HP estimates in NA form...

Wonder what Subaru can do with this...

wth, toyota chose the wrong designation for this concept. The only thing this will have in common with the legend of the 86 will be rwd.

It's going to be huge, like 370z huge. There's only so much weight you can chop off a rwd car that big. I'm expecting it to be a porker close to 3100lbs, and with a sub par performing engine its a huge dissapointment.

Even if subaru stuffed the ej257 in there it would not be appealing to me.

bummer, I had high hopes for this car.

Now having made those predictions. If by some miracle they're able to keep the curb weight of the car to under 2500lbs, then a puny little 150hp flat 4 wouldn't be so bad.

What would it take for me to want to aquire this car and move back to toyota?

curb weight : under 2500lbs
power output: 240hp 160wtq
base price: under 25k

will it ever happen, hell no.

These three things don't go together, although it would be nice to get a really light, powerful car for that cheap. As you mentioned it won't happen. I hope it's around that price point, but it will probably have less power and weigh more.

The z is a full 10" wider than this concept, it's also slightly longer (3") and taller (2"). The nismo 370z is 9.5" longer than this.

Yeah, the numbers I saw here are different Toyota's Toyobaru, FT-86 Concept - 2009 Tokyo Auto Show Preview.

I'll admit that the car being 10" narrower than the z does sound off.
