Wait for what??? Yall make it sound like theres going to be 500hp monster in 2020... you know what? Just wait till 2025 i heard that one will be much better than 2020...
Theres no reason to wait, unless you already own 15+, but if you dont, then get it now, i personally would NOT buy an all new car at the begining of production...

There is a reason to wait. 305 HP isn't cutting it anymore given the competition from Ford, VW and others. Subaru has stiffened the chassis, improved the brakes, improved the drivetrain, etc. Now what's inevitably left is a bump and power and move to a twin-scroll turbo.

The video (it seems you may not have watched it) I talk about how it's not enough of a jump to get rid of my 2016, and that I'll wait for the second year of the new engine before getting rid of my '16.

What about a first time STI buyer? If you didnt have a 2016 would you go for the 2018?

There's no reason to wait, If there there is a new engine in 2019 or 2020 it still won't have the horsepower that the domestic muscle cars are putting out , so strictly waiting for an STI with more power isn't rational. The STI as a total package however is just great and is going to be better in 2018, so wait for what? The ej has so many performance parts available right now to do basically anything you want to it, why wait for a new engine that probably won't be as mod friendly and probably won't make more Than 330-350 horsepower, which is very easy with the ej now.
