| Junior STI Driver | I have an 07 Limited and the sunroof appears to drop the interior roof by an inch or two, causing my head to bang against it when I wear a helmet for AutoX. I'm not a particularly tall guy, pretty average around 5'10" or so. Are there any helmets that are known to be thinner on top? Thanks! Matt This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Junior STI Driver | I tried opening the sunroof, but I still hit my helmet on the roof on the left side of the actual sunroof mechanism... -\___/====GLASS====\___/- The roof that hangs down to the left of the sunroof makes me bang my head on it constantly. I tried lowering my seat as much as possible. I try to sit close to the wheel while AutoXing because that is what I've been taught by more experienced drivers, so I am hesitant to have the seat leaning back - I would flop around too much around corners I think I think I either need a racing seat, which I probably don't want to install, or to just deal with it and buy a car without a sunroof next time. Thanks guys! Matt |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | The reason I went with a regular STi instead of the STi limited (which I wanted) was because of the lack of headroom. I'm 6'3" and my head hits without a helmet on. I autocross SCCA Solo events in alaska and knew I'd never fit with a helmet. I have plenty of head room in my 07. I don't fit with a helmet in my wife's Legacy GT which she autocrosses for the same reason... Sunroof takes away headroom. I even tried opening it but the same issue remained... You don't sit directly under it |

| Spiteful Old Codger | According to your sig, the car is out of AS. Given that, I would think you'd want to replace the seats just from the standpoint of basic functionality. Decide what seat you want and work back from there, but certainly you should be able to lose 1-1/2" or so just by deleting the height control. With no shims, my seats are about 3" lower than the lowest OE setting. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
