Default Wheels for autocrossing

Hi all,

I have been trying to do research on this, but there are just so many different kinds.

I am looking to start autocrossing my '06 STi. I have decided to go with the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs (seems to be a decent tire at a good price, expecially for beginner autocrossers). I'm pretty sure I want to go with a 245/45R17 which will let me stay in STU.

I am thinking I should mount these on 17x8's? What offset?

Which wheels are DECENT, and won't cost me a ton?

I know wheels can get very expensive, especially in the size I am looking at, but just beginning, I don't have a need to spend a lot on wheels.

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

-Mike

i like to run 245/45r17 but most people run 245/40r17 for autocross.

if you are going to buy new rims i think you should go to a 8.5" or 9" rim. otherwise the stock rims work good for that tire size.

Ah gotcha. What kind of fitment problems might I have with a 17x9? What offset would I need to get? (and/or Spacers?)
