Bishop- With the AP, you can select a STU map, or you can leave it as is and just run BSP, it really doesn't matter. Your car is going to be great fun as it sits, and I'd say get to the next event you can make it to. Just make sure your vehicle is maintained and ready, but other than that it's been covered - go buy a cigarette lighter air compressor from craftsman (or probably any other) that'll run you about $20. Bring some lunch, plenty of water, good shoes, and just GET TO IT. You'll have a blast-no need to start over thinking until you are sitting in staging-That's when it should start to get to you
Most regions also have a novice class that you can run in for your first 3 or 4 events, so that should take out any guess work as well.
As said, just show up early, look around, and eavesdrop as much as possible but more than anything, just go do it.

I was in a similar situation with autoX last summer. I participated in my first one, and i ended up doing around 5 of them last year. They are quite fun. Avoid the ones on major holidays (memorial day) as those will be the ones with the most people. Just look for the local scca chapter, go to one of the events and have a blast. In Utah here, the people who autoX are extremely friendly. What you can do is show up early. The people who show up early are usually the serious people and are usually people who setup the course. Just start talking to them, tell them its your first time, and hopefully they will help you out. Ask them if you can "walk the course" with them. That means you walk through the course, and just pick their brain about it. You will usually get good tips from them. Also ask them if they will ride with you. It is always a good idea to have an experienced driver ride with you as they can tell you what to improve on.
Well since the last event landed on mothers day and i didnt realize it, i didnt end up going.... was hoping to maybe get myself together quick enough to go this sunday/monday.... then i read your post lol, but wouldnt a large event be beneficial since there would be alot of people around to talk to? if i go i'll probably be competing both days...

AutoX people are usually pretty friendly. They either really nice, or completly full of themselves..., you can usually tell which kind they are pretty quickly.

Just go onto the website, register and sign up for a solo, There are alot of other people and Subaru is well represented in a few different classes. The time trials are also fun, faster speed, SCCAand NASA also has time trials available with schooling to get you started. Many opinions on what to bring - to start - sunblock, hat, cooler of water/drinks and lunch. Air pressure guage. Air up your tires to 40psi and prior to event and start from there, ask around there will be lots of help. Need #numbers for your car, website will help, magnetic, or just painters tape to start. You will need a helmet, but they will have Loaners also. Go early to look around, ask questions, walk the course, etc. Next autocross is May 11th. At World Arena.
Race, hey im gonna PM you, but i was wondering if you might be willing to do some more 1 on 1 talking with me about what i'll need, and what i can do and such since i've never done an auto-x before...

Thanks again all, and new onlookers, feel free to post
