| Thanks Robert, so the big question is should I get a kit now and sit on it or can I wait till June to order it? I would imagine you will still be producing the kits 4 months from now? |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | Yes I will stil be making kits and by then you'll probably (if everything works out) will be able to just buy them from ESX. Well guys, we took one for the team. Me and Tim have been working on kits for nearly 6 hours now. We got 16 done! I will be shipping ALL of the remainer out i believe. Then I will be cutting the new kits (for 350z, etc) and will be sending out my first prototype for the carbon fiber - talked to the guy today. Im going to be able to get some great deals.Robert~ |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | Im still looking for a solid black and red... I found one, but it is NOT OFC copper and is like 1600 strand vs 2058 strand... The finer it is (the bigger the # of strands) the better it crimps and the better it seals. I am still looking though. I will let you know tomorrow and sorry for the delays, Im exhausted tonight though. Sorry I cannot deliver anymore info at this time. Robert~ |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Robert, I received mine yesterday, and I finished installing it last night. Man, what a DIFFERENCE with the idle. It is buttery smooth. The car is indeed revving faster than before. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | Awsome, thank you for posting a pic! I might even use it for my instructions page . Also could you do me a favor, which wires have extra slack? Im trying to figure out how to shave a couple inches (to give me some play room) as when I order these in big bulk orders its hard to cut them exactly 9ft ... so if I could cut an inch or two off of some spots and still be ok, that'd be great to know. Thank you!Robert~ |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Feel free to use it for your instructions page ![]() I obviously test fit all the wires before I ever started unbolting stuff. I used your webpage as to just identify the grounding points, the rest is just plain logic. Did you notice that with the 7 wire kit, I am using the grounding point to the right of the alternator, despite your instructions stated to use the point within the engine block? But that was too much of a pain to reach for me ![]() As for the extra slack, I believe you can take 1/2" from the wire that connects the throttle body to the driver's side manifold, I think I used the correct wire? Wire #1 that goes from the passenger side strut tower, below the intake box, and to the passenger side fender wall can also be chopped like another inch. I passed Wire #1 beneath the stock airbox and still had slack, in your instructions you had your Perrin intake, which shortens the path even more. Also, the shortest lead that connects the battery -ve terminal to the driver's side fenderwall grounding point could also be chopped off a little. Oh, and now that I've drive to and back to work today, I noticed the increased power. My butt dyno feels 5whp or something like that. Again, the most important gain on this grounding mod, to me, is the smoothness of the power delivery and the sharpness of the engine while revving out. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | Awsome awsome man... im glad it is working out! crap... maybe i have the instructions wrong. The whole point of this 7 wire kit is to NOT USE the block... as it is very difficult to reach and is a pain. I removed wire 6 from the 8 wire kit so that you could bypass the block. I will talk to my webguy and make sure everything is ok. Thank you for the help!! Robert~ |

| Senior STI Driver | Robert, I got my kit installed today and it was pretty easy. Only one recommendation, I think it would help some of the less technical oriented people here (like me) to have the wires labeled or maked. Other than that, everything worked out fine. Keep up the good work ![]() -d |

| Lurker | Robert, Got my 7-wire silver kit last week and installed it last night. Some notes on the installation: 1. I figured you arranged the wires in order so I did a dry run on each one and labeled it. 2. I found it easier to run wire 1 along the passenger side fender wall to reach ground point 2 rather than under my stock air filter housing as in your pictures. Easily had about a 6-inch slack doing it this way. My wire 1 was a little short to run under the stock air filter housing. 3. To work on the ground point 2, I had to unlatch the stock air filter cover and pry it open 1-2 inches. This is also where I used a 10mm wrench since the space was too tight for a socket wrench. 4. Ground point 7 was the toughest one. I was following your web instructions to bypass point 6. I was really tempted to just use point 6 since there was a solid metal bracket that ran between those two points. Wished I did. Anyway, I also used a 3/8-inch universal joint and a 6-inch extension bar to remove that bolt since the clearance was at a slight angle. Took me a while to figure out how best to apply a lot of force without scraping my knuckles. I didn't have a longer extension bar. 5. I mostly guessed the amount of torque to tighten each bolt again. I based it on the initial force required to loosen it and the fact that the wire terminal is probably relatively soft metal. Some recommended torque settings would probably help. 6. Would be easier for a novice to see a stock engine bay in the photos. The current photos just make me drool over your mods. ![]() 7. Except for wire 1, I would leave any slack as is on the other wires. Gives you a little bit of flexibility depending on which way you want to orient the terminal leads. All in all, excellent wiring kit build quality and instructions. I still have to do an ECU reset later tonight when I get off work. So far, car feels good already. Later ... |
