StaticX, I got the kit! I have not installed it yet, but it looks very good. Appears to be very well made. Some watermark on this thing... is that your sweat? ;-)

It turns out a postman attempted a delivery while I was out of town but failed to leave a delivery attempt note in my mailbox. It had arrived back in the first week of January!

Thanks.

Got mine today - thanks again, Robert.

Couple comments... this took longer than I thought, which is fine. I actually didn't have much problem with #7 (the one on the engine block) once I tried my second socket set and found that socket dropped in there much easier than my other one.

I did manage to strip the driver side fender wall but I found a machine screw that I was able to screw in there and it worked great. I did make a change, I ran wire 7 to the battery's negative terminal and then ran wire 8 from the battery to the driver side fender ground point.

I do notice a smoother idle, rock solid at 500 rpm. My headlights seem brighter too. Other than that, not much else, but I didn't expect to see a ladder from the sky, I got what I expected and am very happy with it.

There was one weird thing though... probably due to the ECU reset, but was curious what you guys thought. In second and third I can definitely here both the turbo and BOV much more clearly than before. I have no idea why that would be... ?? But it's definitely louder. Normally I can hardly hear the BOV at all.

I was worried at first that I didn't get the throttle body tightened down enough. The screw is tight, as are the grounding wires at that point, but due to the difficulty of putting that long bolt back in with the intercooler hose in the way, even with the clamp loosened, the top of the bolt in the throttle body is bent very slightly. I'm sure the bolt is in straight, but the top is bent very slightly because of the hose pushing on it and probably the way the ground cables are pushing back on it.

If the throttle body was not completely sealed back up on top (though I think it is) that still should not explain more distinct turbo and BOV sounds would it? I woudn't think it would...

Anyway, I assume it was due to the ECU reset and hopefully it was a good thing. I'm happy with the ground kit and the idle is rock solid. Very nice!!

By the way, on the cable that connects to the battery terminal, and the one that connects to the driver's side fender wall, using some additional washers will help keep the smaller square nut (battery) and stock ground wire (on the fender end) from pushing through the large hole of the new ground wires and bending.

Well Im glad you liked it man!!! Did you use the reset info on the NASIOC website (on the instructions)? That should help a lot and if you did that, your car would be at its full potential (hence why the bov/turbo sound more). Also, I wouldnt worry about it as I have had that happen too (louder bov/turbo) i think the car is able to hold psi better up to redline and/or is running more efficiently/stronger. Hmm... i didnt realize the end was too big for the stock battery terminal... I will start including washers and whatnot with kits, thanks for the heads up!!! Also, you might not notice a big difference now, but when you start installing stereo, EBCs, engine managements, etc... you will be glad you did this mod, otherwise your system will be pretty drained and not function at their 100%. The more you throw at the car now, the better it will perform rather then the more drained it would have been . Glad again you liked it!!!! If you have any problems , let me know!! Thanks!

Robert~

rjhang - AWSOME, Im glad it worked out!

robert,
got the kit today,(wed) and installed it. took a few minutes to lay the wires out and figure out what went where, but it was easy to figure out. that one wire is a bit of a pain, but i loosened both of the bolts on the alt bracket, and that made it way easier to get the bolt back in. the 4ga wire is somewhat stiffer than 8ga, but probably worth it.
fired up the car, and went to reset the ecu and get some dinner. it's pretty easy to left foot brake and get the boost up, so that was no problem. did that on a back road on the way to the mexican food place. on the way back, i asked my girlfriend (who was at this point very hungry after waiting through the install...) if the headlights seemed brighter...hhmmmmm. she wasn't sure, but i think they are. anyway, took the freeway on the way home...WHOAAAA! big booost in first and second, never seen that before. full 15psi in second! and radar, i think you are right. maybe it's just because you get more boost in lower gears now, but it does seem louder.
all in all, a great, affordable mod. will recommend it to all subie owning friends. thanks,

dang... it'd be best if you could do it today or something. As I order the next batch tonight. I can still order yours tomorrow, it'd just be easier if you'd pay tonight. Thank you!! If not , no big deal.

nocalsti - AWSOME, Im glad it worked out ... with your car performing to its optimum level now im sure you will get and hold more boost in lower gears and be able to sustain more power! Glad you enjoyed it!!

If anyone ever has any problems with connectors or anything, PLEASE let me know asap and I will have it fixed for free of charge. I've only had one person have this happen and have been double crimping them from now on, but just so you know. you will not be responsible for shipping one way or another or paying for ANYTHING. Guys - sorry for the stupid question, but I'm putting the kit on tomorrow (finally warm enough in the garage). The ECU reset instructions say to maintain 2500rpm and 2-5psi for 5 seconds. What number on the boost guage is 2-5psi just so I'm sure I don't mess it up.

*feels stupid*

http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm ... that will help. Put MEGAPASCALS in the left column and PSI in the right column and type in your boost. 0.02 megapascal = 2.9007548 pound-force/square inch (PSI). So around the 2nd tick on the gauge I believe... I havent used mine in a long time since the blitz comes with a boost gauge in it... hopefully that will help though.

Default Re: any one still driving on stock tires??

Thanks for the site. I installed the kit this afternoon. It wasn't too hard, and my only mistake was dropping one of the little fender washers down into the engine compartment...oh well. I did the ECU reset as per instructions, and the car is running great. You're not going to turn your car into a rocket ship with this mod (not that that was ever promised), but the idle is definitely smoother, and there's no more hesitation btwn 1st and 2nd gear @ 3200rpm or so. The LCD display on my head unit is also brighter, and doesn't dim any more when I turn on the headlights. I also found out that I was 1/2 quart low

All in all, I would highly recommend this grounding kit. Rob is a real pro, and the instructions are really easy to follow because of the great picture documentation. Thanks again!
