Default Static X Motorsports VF39 ThermoTec Turbo Wrap and Downpipe Wrap Kits (UPDATED)

We now offer ThermoTec Turbo Wrap kits for the STI! Meaning that instead of spending $100 on a turbo wrap kit or even spending near the same amount on another heatshield (or trimming your stock one - For aftermarket downpipes) you can now purchase these turbowrap kits for $29.99 through IWS as a special price for our IWS members!

To receive discount on turbo and downpipe wrap, use coupon code: IWSVF39777

PAYPAL, CCs, MONEY ORDERS, AND CHECKS ARE ACCEPTABLE!

We will be doing our testing on the STI kit today, but after wrapping Jeff's WRX's TD04 (stock turbo) setup, he managed an extra 2psi in 1st and 2nd gear and was hitting full boost in 3rd on accessport Stage 2! With no heatshield and the Accessport Stage 2 (Invidia Race Turboback and GTspec uppipe) he was hitting approx 7-8PSI in first and ~9-10psi in 2nd. Now he said he is hitting ~10-11psi in 1st and 12-13psi in 2nd! Definitely an awesome/noticable increase. We also felt that his IC and underhood temperatures were MUCH lower then before. The IC does not get hot and we are going to work on getting his wrap finished (As we needed to add a little more header wrap to wrap the edges of the turbo properly). We will post more data from his setup soon and we will have data from my setup (as its currently open turbo as well right now). We will be wrapping the VF39 on my car today and will be shooting pics/taking measurements as well. I will see what changes there are with this as I too did not keep the stock heatshield (As I would have to trim it) and the cusco rattled too much... its very noisey.

More Information will be posted here and there if you would like to keep in touch on this. We accept paypal, credit cards, checks and money orders. For little to nothing you can properly wrap your VF39 or similar setup (we will do other turbos if you provide measurements/specs) and keep the under hood temps down and your turbo heat spool properly! Noticable effects of the kit will be a more responsive turbo, less lag, and better response between shifts. We will post our results as soon as we have them! Thanks Everyone!

Paypal/CC/MO/CHK $29.99: http://staticxmotorsports.com/produc...3&idproduct=61

NEW We are now offering Downpipe wrap kits for those using aftermarket downpipes! We will offer pre-wrapped downpipes (Invidia) or can provide enough wrap for your project's need, including all clamps, bands, etc to properly hold on your downpipe wrap. Due to the difference in size/shape/design of each downpipe kit, we may end up just making a "universal kit" and allowing members to post which downpipe they use and their results. We'll definitely include more then enough material and clamps to make this kit an easy install. ***NOTE*** Downpipe will be wrapped from bellmouth to tip, we simply just ran out of material. That and wire ties are only use for strap holders, do NOT leave them on lol.

Paypal/CC/MO/CHK $69.99: http://staticxmotorsports.com/produc...3&idproduct=62

There are NO shipping charges

If you would like more information, pictures, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask! We have all the answers from a ThermoTec tech (hah) and would be able to provide any answers you may need! If you want to wrap your 20G, GT30R, or similar sized turbo, please contact us! This thread will be updated with more information as soon as we have it! Thank you!

We have over 40 kits worth of materials in stock and more coming, so order today!!! All kits will be shipped USPS priority 2-day!

FAQ:
Q) Does the heat retained hurt the turbo? A) No, it will not. The kits are designed to hold in heat, but not to retain too much heat in order to hurt the bearings or cause other overheating related issues. This was addressed and confirmed by a thermotec technician.
Q) Can you stack multiple layers of turbo wrap to hold in more heat? A) No, you cannot use more then one layer due to the reason above. They properly designed these materials in order to hold in heat and not damage the turbo. Stacking layers will cause it to retain too much heat and possible damage may occur. This was addressed and confirmed by a thermotec technician.
Q) Will it up hold to the weather? (A) Yes, we were advised that the kit's material was well suited for weather including water, humidity, heat, etc. It is very duable stuff! This was addressed and confirmed by a thermotec technician.
Q) Can the wrap be installed without removing any parts? (A) Yes, we have been able to do this without removing the turbo, however we have not attempted to install it without removing ANY parts. We will attempt and confirm this, however it was no problem to install with an aftermarket downpipe on.
Q) Will this fit with a stock or aftermarket heatshield? (A) Yes, being that it wraps around the exhaust housing, it will fit no problem and will further assist in keep engine bay temperatures down.

I would get this kit from Robert and wrap it up before you put in the turbo. Its an amazing deal and it works great. The question is will double wrapping the turbo REALLY hurt it b/c Jerry form Deadbolt actually prepped, double-wrapped and installed mine. If he did it and thought it was ok I trust him, but I'd get Robert's kit and have it wrapped. Do it....do it... (starsky and hutch haha).

Can this be used when already using an aftermarker heatshield? I'm currently sporting the Cusco on my aftermarket downpipe.

We had a customer wrap his 20G, we can provide enough material (for a little extra $$) to cover this sized turbo! Thanks and let me know!

Datadatum - Thanks man we should have some soon. We're trying to revise it to cover the awkward housing with the internal wastegate (not perfectly round like the pictures in the instructions manual lol ).

JJ - This wraps around the turbo turbine, so yes, it will definitely work and will help even further at keeping temps down. Thank you, thats a great FAQ question!

Topshotta - We installed the WRX one with taking the downpipe off (To wrap it as well). We did not even come close to needing to take off the turbo itself. If possible, remove the downpipe, but I will attempt it with the downpipe on to verify; however I see no problem leaving everything on as long as you can get your hands around tight places. Another great FAQ question. Thank you!

Thanks everyone! More data to come. I expected to do it today, but had a shipping mishap on our downpipe and I wanted to do this at the same time (as the bulky stock downpipe really looks in the way, however I will try the install with the stock and aftermarket downpipe on).

Installation takes about ~15-30 minutes and definitely helps in holding boost between shifts, turbo response, reducing underhood temps, etc.

Thanks everyone!

Robert~

I had to modify my Cusco heatshield after wrapping the 20g (not much) On a VF-39 you'd probably be fine.

How much cooler does this make the under hood temps vs. running without the stock heatshield? I have removed for the Cobb DP. Also is it beneficial to wrap the upper portion of the DP for even more under hood heat reduction? Also what about the up pipe?

It is dramatically cooler. I cannot tell you an exact temperature, but it is noticable. Try it and if you don't like it, I'll refund your money ok?! I would highly recommend wrapping the downpipe as well (which we have wrap available for as well). Thanks a ton man!

Pics from Jason's 20G are being posted now. TD04 and VF39 pics will be available hopefully tomorrow/friday. Thanks everyone!

Can it be used to wrap the headers, too? - what else can I wrap with this?

What would I need to wrap the turbo, downpie and headers (if applicable)?
Do you sell these as three diff wrap packages, or am I better off buying the 100 dollar package (which I presume you resell as well)?

Rich,

We are working on this now and plan on stocking quite a few Thermotec products. We have material for wrapping the headers/downpipe/etc. I will have to ask on the headers though... realize that this is a bottle neck of exhaust gases between the engine block and turbo... lots of heat/resistance/etc is in there and I need to make sure there isn't a fire or something of that nature, but being that this stuff wraps the turbo, I am sure we can work something out on wrapping other products as well.

Email me: rschwarze@staticxmotorsports.com and we can definitely work something out ok!! thanks!
