IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Couple of quick install questions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. How tight is this wrap suppose to wrap around the turbo? I think I have it on there pretty good, but can't seem to make it very tight. Is this going to matter. Also, are you suppose to cut a notch around where the wastegate actuator arm is? It seems like if you don't you won't get it to cover around there well. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks 4banger |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | It would not necessarily have to be SUPER tight. You do however want it to fit snug if possible. Meaning, its best to try and use 2 needle nose pliers to pull it tight (so it does slide around/move). Just dont yank it do death is all =P. The area where the actuator arm is, the wrap should actually sink down between the housing/flange. Let me know and I can see if I can be of more help there. Thank you! Robert~ |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Robert, I am going to try tightening it a bit with needle nose pliers like you suggested. My wrap seems like it just didn't want to fit, but maybe I could have pulled it closer to the actuator arm. I have a lot of uncovered area around the arm. I just didn't want it to interfere with the swing of the arm. The pics you have up are good, but think would be better if you had a top down pic of the stock turbo wrapped so you can see what it looks like when you are trying to install it on the car. Thanks. 4baner |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Today I tried installing my new downpipe. I had to adjust the heat wrap some to get access to the top two bolts. While doing that the hold side gave way and the metal string just ripped right out. Hopefully I can sew it back up and make it work again. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Thanks Robert, you have really been going out of your way to make sure that I am happy. I don't want anyone to think that the turbo wrap kit is bad. The kit does a great job at holding the heat in and keeping things cool around the turbo. Just make sure you get it on the way you want it before you go driving around. Once it gets hot, it molds into place and doesn't like to be adjusted. Don't make the same mistake that I did and think you can take it back off install a downpipe. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | lol we try our best Let me know how you want to resolve this.I am still going to grab some pics today, just been majorly busy. After looking at mine again, the side closest to the flange/actuator is molded in, but the other side is barely able to mold in due to the design of the housing. So I guess just try to mold it in on the flange side as well as you can and a little bit on the other side. brb with some pics. Robert~ |

| Junior STI Driver | does your kit come with sealant (or already sealed wrap) because wraping is memorable to ignite itself when oil is spilled on it ... if not it'S possible to put some sealant on it ? from who and where i cant find it if it's possible.. i'm interested in wrapping downpipe up pipe turbo .. but the risk of fire make me think more about that... IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | lol how would you be getting oil on it? If you're going to replace the turbo, let it set for a long time and there will be no oil when you remove it. Otherwise I don't see how you would be getting oil on it? If you get oil on it, I would recommend replacing it, but I dont think that will happen. I would be careful wrapping anything before the turbo (I'd recommend coating it). The amount of heat that builds up between the engine and turbo is very high, so keep some fire exts on standby if you do. We've not had a problem with wrapping our turbo or the downpipe, but I have not wanted to touch the uppipe or headers yet. Good luck and let us know if you end up doing that.
