IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (9) | No sir didn't wrap it....I read a bunch of threads on it and I just couldn't come to a conclusion. There's so much debate over it, it's like a never ending argument. are you for wrapping it? I'm not even running the turbo heatshield right now, which I should. I think my tech told me it needs to be cut or something to fit around the downpipe, but I wasn't listening fully....was too focused on my sexy exhaust What do you know 'aboot this? |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (9) | Oh and I've got a CEL (and of course the infamous flashing cruise), but I don't think it's for no cats. Something weird I couldn't even remember.....I'll run outside and write down what my AP says in a bit |

LOL! I figure the downpipe is going to get REALLY hot so by wrapping it the engine bay will stay cooler and you experience less heat soak. I ran my downpipe without the heat sheild for a while too but I eventually cut it with a jig saw and re-installed it with 2 bolts. I guess it would be good to have so there will be less heatsoak on the intercooler . You definetly have a CEL for missing cats on the downpipe, the AP could turn it off, but I don't know how to. I'm running the mechanical fix (2 spark plug non foulers between sensor and bung) on my 02 sensor so no CEL at all .PS- Zach do you have a boost gauge? Because if the CEL mite not be for the cats, it might be fuel cut.

Yeah it runs at .5 normally, it's supposed too. Was just wondering if this was a common occurance (not starting at first, then high idles, then normaling out), and no, no CEL's Tell ya what, WOT feels so much better after cleaning out a *DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY* K&N and fixing a 2nd cyl misfire ![]() BTW Zach, I'm going to steal your AP and exhaust, but shh, don't tell yourself.
