IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Hey I currently live in Hawaii but will be headed to Fort Bragg, NC in October of this year. Right now I am running a Catless TBE because Hawaii has no laws on Emissions. Just wondering if I will be okay with my Helix Catless DP, or if I need to invest in a High Flow Cat Downpipe before I get back to the mainland.. Wanna make my move as easy as possible.. For vehicle registration, bring driver’s license, state registration, proof of insurance, proof of SSN (if not already on your ID), and (for motorcycles) MSF Experienced Rider Course Card. Proof of SSN is any independent verification of your SSN, such as Social Security Card, pay stub with your SSN printed on it, etc. All personnel must complete FB Form 2229. You can access this form below in either FormFlow or Adobe Fillable format, and if you wish have it completed prior to visiting a Vehicle Registration Center. another part of that site: POV Registration in North Carolina The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires automobile owners to have liability insurance coverage before registering your car in North Carolina. State law requires that you register your vehicle within 30 days of establishing residence in the State. The DMV also recommends replacement of your driver's license at that time. North Carolina plates are only good if you hold continuous insurance. Should your insurance lapse at any time your license plate must be surrendered to the DMV. To re-license your vehicle, you must pay a $25 fee in addition to the cost of the license fee. because ft. bragg is in cumberland county, your car has to get an emissions test. *however*, because you are in the military, this may not apply to you. i'm at camp lejeune, and the base rule just changed so cars registered in other states don't have to get nc state inspections. plus, if you're not "establishing residence" in the state, you may not have to get the state sticker (it's a horrid-looking yellow sticker they put right in front of you on the inside of the windshield. the damn lejeune rule changed after i had already gotten my base tags, and at the time i had to get the nc inspection. call (910) 432-8193 (ft. bragg's vehicle registration center) for more info... |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | yeah, a friend of mine over here has a tbe (and a number of other obviously-not-stock parts). i'm not sure if he even did an emissions test. i never did one, now that i think of it (can't believe i didn't think of that before...)if you do have to get one because of the county that base is in, go to your base's hobby shop and swap the stock one back on, or at least the downpipe. there's a group of counties in central nc that have to get emissions tests, onslow (where lejeune is) isn't one of them, so i can't tell ya for sure. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | my car's registered in a county that gets emissions tested. they changed the laws a few years ago for newer cars. Now you don't have to pass a sniffer test, just an OBD-II test (i.e., no CELs or failure codes stored on the ECU). Assuming your DP at least *looks* like there's a cat in it, and you don't have a strong smell of raw unburned gas, you should be good to go. ...but I'm not running a TBE yet, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
