But the film was a collection of scenes with no cohesiveness. Many scenes didn't work at all and left me wanting to fast forward. IMHO, the direction sucked. I looked up the writer/director - he never got another gig after that film. It is the genre of dark violent film that I usually like, but the execution was poor. A 2 star film with a few 4 star scenes.

As I remember, the rope was one of the only scene transition devices that actually worked... going from the bizarre weapons purchase where Boondock #1 was staring at the rope... to the airduct where Boondock #2 was making fun of the rope. You want a great death scene, you need to see "There will be Blood" - the very last scene of the movie was incredible. Wow.

IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | There Will Be Blood (2007) Yes, it is from the Upton Sinclair novel about the rise (and fall) of an oil magnate at the turn of the century. Daniel Day Lewis stars, Paul Thomas Anderson directs. It was up for a bunch of oscars earlier this year and won 2. My wife got bored and didn't finish it. I got tired of the film about 2 hrs into it (thinking "where is this going, and do I care"), but the final scene is so incredibly good that I'm really glad I finished it. I'll never go bowling again without thinking of that scene. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
