IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | OK, so it's been a little quiet on the NE FL front lately.....a little too quiet! A couple of things from my perspective: 1) I've got about 1500 mile on the car now. I 've been trying to drive like a granny lately to see if I can get higher mpg (last tank was like 14 mpg ). Unfortunately, this tank has seen at least one 110 mph plus WOT run and some random spirited driving. I had all 4 wheels squalling yesterday thru a left hand 90 with the backend stepped out a little. Pretty cool. To make up for some of these gas guzzling behaviors I'm attempting to short shift when commuting and trying to drive under 3k. With any luck at all maybe I'll see 16 mpg on this tank....2)September 25 there is a SOLO2 event at Whitehouse Airfield. I've never done anything like this so I expect to be completely humiliated. That's OK. Here's some more info from Paula Frazier on what to do if anyone is interested: <<You don't have to pre-register for the event, but because it is at Whitehouse Airfield, you need to be put on the "Registration" list, to gain access to the airfield (it is still a military installation). You can email your name, and the names of anyone who may be coming with you, to Mimi Blevins at blevins550water@aol.com . She handles the list. Or you can go to myautoevents.com and "register" for the event when it is available. All that is used for is to provide the Navy with a list of participants, and anyone who will be entering the site. Paula>> 3)I'm completely stock at this time. My plan is to do as little as humanly possible with no "bling" only items under the hood (no intake, no BOV, no top brace, etc). This said, I will probably do sway bars first for suspension. All I plan to do in the short term for the engine side is DP, fuel pump, and engine management. I plan to do dyno pulls before and after and will post them here and in the IWSTI technical threads. Not sure which DP to use yet but here are some criteria: No plan to ever upsize the turbo, no plan to go FMIC, DP must not cause boost creep and I don't want to port the wastegate, catted probably, and as quiet as possible. I believe a stealthy 280-300 HP at the wheels is still possible with just these mods. Anyone disagree? With gas prices the way they are this will hopefully be enough for me. Anyway, I will probably put off these mods for awhile and enjoy stock as much as possible. ~Karl |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | I think the Solo2 is kind of like autocross. You get timed around a set course of cones. I want to go so I can learn a little bit on how to drive, and see what other STI owners are doing suspension/engine-wise to make quick times around the track. Boosted, I'll send your name in to Mimi for the list but will let you and the others self-register at the link below. Here's the scoop from Mimi on how to get registered: << Hi Karl, Well, first of all, you need to go and register at my www.myautoevents.com. Since it is a military base, we have to pre-register so we can give the base people a list of people coming in. If you have a helmet, you can bring it with you but I believe it has to be DOT approved. If you don't, that is no problem either, we have loaners. I would suggest you get there about 7-7:30ish. You'll have the opportunity to meet fellow Suby drivers while you wait. (which by the way includes me)If there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful week and I will talk to you soon, Mimi>> Hope this will be fun! ~Karl Last edited by KarlSTI; 09-07-2005 at 04:08 AM. Reason: correcting web link |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Okay I'll try to keep this short. I've Auto-crossed since the 2002 subaru Challenge. You can find info on the Sept 25 event at WhitehouseHere . Also, on Saturday, Oct 22nd the 2005 Subaru Challenge will be held in Gainseville. Info on that event is Here . Click upcoming events. I look forward to meeting any that show up at Whitehouse, I'll be in the '05 CGM STI, with 12 AS, on the door. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | Event cost is $25 for non-members and $20 for members. If you're not sure about what class you should enter - here's some of the solo2 class guidelines and a link to the 2005 rule book. ~Karl http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/ |
