| Lurker | Ok, so i finally convinced my gf to let me run her STi at the Sturgis dragway.. first off let me tell you my times reaction - .625 (yea yea, i generally drive a fwd car lol) 60ft - 1.8 et @ 594 ft - 8.032 1/8 et - 8.585 1/8 mph - 80.79 now i had the DCCD set at Auto. i read in a write up (some magazine) that auto was the best for drags.. is this correct? also, for mods we have.. AEM CAI, GFB BOV, Turbo XS cat back, and Tein springs (on the way as we speak.. lol) should i be hitting faster times? i read also that stock times for the STi should be 8.5, that was also in Cali. Being that South dakota has way higher elevation i know i should be just a tad bit slower. Am I hitting some alright numbers? This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Lurker | another question about the clutch.. when i launch i generally ride the clutch out.. not a lot to smell the clutch, but enough to get the tires spinning.. am i doing this right? i just got done reading off this site that some people dump the clutch at about 5500.. i launch at about 5k to 55k just depends on my adrenaline.. lol |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | your 60" is decent, try to get into the 1.7's but your 1/8 is a bit slow. I run on a 1/4 track but get 1/8 mile times on my slips. I consistantly get 8.3's at 82mph. I would guess that either your shift points are too low or you are shifting too slowly. I also have a decent time of it running the DCCD in lock because my tires suck (I don't think I would recommend this, but it helps with traction off the line) |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | check the 1/4 mile thread, ScubaSteve has some good timps in there. If you compare your split times to his you can see where you need to be and what section of the track you are slower in. You will have to begin with a good launch and tie everything together to get a really good run, but when you do, it feels really awesome. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | When I first started, I did the 8.9 then 8.7 then 8.5 and finally 8.20 on the 1/8th. Same mods, intake, TBE. I think the most important mod I did was the shifter. I knew I was loosing time shifting, it was too sloppy. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
