| Poor Speed Racer Car: 96 328 Fav Mod: Tightening the nut behind the wheel! Location: Northern VA Posts: 8,441
IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | Wow, thats all i can say for yesterday. the Northern Va Corvette club hosted a monday track event at the summit point main track. The Main track is a 10 turn really techincal track, a "drivers" track. This was my first event there so i was a little nervous being in the intermediate group. I signed up my father because the price was right ($150) and i wanted him to feel what it was like to really drive the car! My father ran my car in the novice group, so the car got very little down time. My setup was as follows: Suspension: Stock, with alignment of -.8 in the front Tires: Stock, 42psi front / 37psi rear Brakes: SS lines, ATE blue and pagid blues, RCE KBK (just the ducts no hoses) When the tires were warm the cars turn is was AMAZING. There was push nearing the limit but normally it was me doing something stupid. I'm again impressed with the level of grip the 70's give when warm, and i think the pressures was spot on for this track. The camber helped a TON and was a noticable change. I would suggest ALL of this for people tracking their cars!! Now onto the stuff i added to the car. The tune was amazing, but a "stock" (ie intake and exhaust) C5 z06 could walk away from me in last 2/3's of the front stright. Any cornering speed I had over them was quickly negated by shear displacement. I noticed that i was overboosting in 5th a little, but then again, my mbc is not made to have a WOT 4th-5th-6th run on the street (note EBC thread in ECU section) However, I did catch EVERYONE in my session on the brakes. I was still hesitant of these new pads, but stop after stop, session after session they were golden. There was a strech of Novice, Intermidiate, Break (20min), Intermediate, that the brakes had almost an hour on the track, and they were still golden. The ATE Blue was a champ and didnt boil, the SS lines did their jobs, the pads were AMAZING (I'm sure i could brake even later than i was) and the KBK would keep them cooling when not braking. I installed the RCE KBK (install thread comming) the day before the event and the install went without a problem, I didnt have the chance to install the hoses, but I'm sure they would get even better with the hoses (thats for the next install day). Overall the day went great, the car performed like a champ and by the last session only ONE z06 passed me (it was second to last lap, i had another z06 in front going down the front stright, so i let the other go around). My father spoke worlds about the braking power on the car, and how it help up over the day. and without further adieu, here are the pics (all pics of my father driving): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() his ass getting passed ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sti in track get up ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() after the skidpad ![]() Oh, and dont be knocking on the mismatched wheels This ad is not endorsed by this member.
