IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I was going to get some new magnetics made for my CGM STi. This will be my first AutoX in about a year, and my first in the STi. I had another set for my old car, but they are a little to tall (12") and won't fit between the "ridges" that run along the length of the car. I was wondering what color combinations and number size most people prefer on their STi's for AutoX. Any pics? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Here are mine from RallyGrafix. ![]() Click for bigger photo: ![]() Measurements for mine: numbers 9" high, class letters 4", stroke width 2". I specced the size and style of everything online, then gave the go-ahead and got the numbers. Last edited by WRX_Mundi; 04-08-2005 at 07:46 PM. |

I don't think the stroke width on DiMikkos is wide enough at the narrowest point and the last thing you want is to get static over something as simple as numbers. the SOLOII rulebook is here check page 46 specifically. |

At Nationals you'd better get it right because I've heard some T&S people have been being absurdly strict (e.g. 7.95" not enough), though to some extent at that level they have a point (rules are rules and it's well specified). At national tours or ProSolos I wouldn't get too concerned unless you plan on trophying in a class with a decent number of people or your numbers truly suck, but always best to do it right. At local or regional events I think T&S will be tickled pink just to be able to read your numbers. As someone who does Timing and Scoring for our region and occasionally for another, I could really care less whether it is technically correct as long as I, the starter, and the course workers can clearly read them. If you follow the rule book you'll make your local people happy and you'll be nationally correct. But I've seen stuff here that doesn't entirely follow the rules but is very readable and I really don't care -- it's the blue tape on a blue car, badly placed tape on a window, numbers 1" high, double drivers that can't get their numbers straight run after run (I'll give 'em one time), number on only one side of the car, etc. that drive me crazy. Of course "ST2" isn't going to cut it anywhere outside of your local events anyway. But as a T&S person I'd find those fine. Big, clear, good contrast. But Xman has a good point -- if you're going to the trouble of making a thread to ask about numbers, you might as well do it right from the start. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to go with 8" numbers with 4" class. I had thought about another color, but I don't want to make it difficult to read for the "cone chasers," so I will just stick with black. WRX_Mundi, I guess you don't have problems with your numbers/class magnetic "sticking" across the "ridges" along the door line? On another note, I'm really looking forward to AutoX'ing the STi. I had a Boxster S (Ran in STA) prior to the STi, and it was a blast! I'm sure the STi won't disappoint. I think I'm going to run the STi in STU for starters. Again, thanks for the responses. |

| Professional STI Driver | Hey Dana, just to tell ya I got first at the E-center Sunday against a Porshe 911 and two Evo MR's. It was great for my first event. I really like your mag also. I need one of those. |
