| Junior STI Driver | The link below will take you to a web page that has four videos from my day at Summit Point. Videos include the STi v. a Lamborghini Murcielago as well as various other cars. This was my third time at the track, I have done two other FATT's (Friday at The Track). So far my experiences with the STi on the track have been great. Overall, the car and the tires have held up very well. My only problem has been the brake pads. I made the mistake of thinking one set of pads would last for two separate days at the track. I ran a FATT on 10/15/04 with the Porterfield R4 track pads, and then used them again on 10/27/04. There seemed to be plenty of pad left, but I ate right through them. I think part of the problem was there were fewer cars then on the FATT days so I was going faster, plus we went out for 30 min at a time, not just 20. Next time I plan to either limit my runs to 20 min. or to take a lap or two slow to cool the brakes down in the middle of my run. I am also going to try the Porterfield R4E (endurance) pads. The real mistake I made was not using the stock metal shims with the R4 pads. I figured they were just to prevent brake squeal, which I was not concerned with on the track, so I did not use them. When I got home I realized that the brake pad material had been pushed through the back of the pad forming a "hockey puck" of brake pad material, which lodged itself between the pistons in the front calipers, and burnt the grommets around the pistons. http://www.howard-hoffman.com/willy/...t%20point.html This ad is not endorsed by this member. | STI Driver | Nice video! It's wise to double check your calipers/pistons/seals, when you go through a set of pads in one or two days. Sometimes excessive heat play silly games with the calipers, causing some of the pistons fail to work properly, resulting with premature/inconsistent pad wear. Porterfiled R4 pads are hard to chew in one day, though |

....it'll come in time. make sure you do it when you drive on the street as well....you'll pick it up faster. i noticed you making a corner where there wasn't. you'll get better...just need seat time. your vid also reminds of why i hate people who don't check their mirrors and give timely point bys. i could see you getting held up because of it. nice vids - thanks for sharing This ad is not endorsed by this member.
