| Gold Member | Man O man, I am in love and addicted to the scca solo 2 autocross events that go on locally!! Today was my first time out, and everybody was so cool and nice about everything. My best time was a 33.4 but i hit a cone and that added a second. So I guess really my best time was a 34.0, is that good for a first timer? I am so addicted now, I can't wait till the next time, I had a great time. I want to get a camera mount for next time. But jeez, do our cars have some serious understeer!! would a rear or a front sway bar help out to fix this? any inputs? I know the way I was driving didn't help I'm sure, but it is still pretty bad. ok, peace out!! RC This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Spec C Club | Glad you discovered autocrossing, things are pretty down hill from this point on, addiction only grows ![]() It is hard to tell if your times are good or bad, it is dependent on courses. Our courses are generally in the 50 to 60 sec range. How did you fare in your class? Frankly, it does not matter how you did actually; the important thing is to get out there, push yourself and the vehicle, and experience the thrill of competition. No one does great the first few times, because autocrossing is very dependent on experience (seat time). there are so many different techniques and ways of driving that, learning them and executing them in a given course that you have never seen before is a very tough deal. All comes over time. In terms of the understeer issues, yes the car understeers when pushed. If you do understeer you loose a lot of time, try going slower into a corner first, brake harder on a straighter line. Then for increasing mechanical grip of the car, you decide which class you will be running in. If AS, then the only real option you have is a front anti-roll bar. If you decide to go into Street Prepared, there are many more thing and it is more budget limited than anything else |

| STI Driver | I just had my first autocross experience this weekend as well. I freakin' loved it! I'm also very proud of myself and my STI (bone stock + added weight from the stereo). The course average was 30 seconds, my first run was 42.4 and my final was a 29.7! Now I have to buy some R-compound tires and rims for them. Cha-ching! :/ -Ollie |

| Professional STI Racer | Same here, took mine out for an auto-x. Power oversteer was pretty amusing (1st gear, exiting a hairpin). I was like , the first time it happened. I got a little understeer, but most of it was from me acting stupid. I was getting consistant times (probably a little slower then average), but I was taking it easy since I was just trying to figure stuff out. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | welcome to the autoX addiction guys. Learning the skills before making more serious changes to your suspension will help you become a more skilled driver and will also be easy on your wallet ![]() I hope to see some of you guys at the National Tour stops, I was the only STi in Toledo the other weekend ![]() EDIT: SSSBC doesn't really have anything on their website, it's best to call them, they will do ANY custom brake work you can imagine and their custom work it typically cheaper than the other guys standard parts.
