Thumbs down Slowboy Racing

I would like to explain my experience with them..

I ordered intake, downpipe and exhaust from them.(December 13th) After 3 days later i got my downpipe and intake.( i got it in 3 days because we are on the same cost, they shipped with ups ground).(December 16th)

here comes the best part.... On their web page they dont have the Invidia exhaust with the GTP model. All they have is G200 and GTR (racing one). Guess what they sent me??? They sent me GTP (with resonatior one), the one they dont even have on their web page. Called them, they tried to make me keep the wrong one, and i insisted that i want the racing model. Anyways, ups brought the exhaust i simply refused it. (December 21st) This was a XMAS gift. I asked them since this is your fault you gotta overnite the right one. They asked me for additional money I dont want to pay more because this is their fault and they have to fix it. Anyways they didnt overnite because i didnt pay extra.

Date is January 2nd i still didnt get my exhaust..I will never order anything from them, since they dont know anything about customer satisfaction.

Thanks

Edit: I got my exhasut on January 3rd. (3 weeks later than the order date)

Default Never buy from Slow Boy Racing!!

I'm sorry to have to make this my first post but I would like to try and save STI owners and auto shop owners some time and money. This has put a big dent in my shops reputation.

I've been a customer for over 2 years and have bought thousands of dollars from SB in the past.

I sent a 16g turbo that I had bought form them (The turbo only had 500-600 miles on it with a filter on the oil feed line and Royal Purple oil. It was always turbo timed.)to be upgraded to their bastard 20g. They first gave me a price of $375. I told my customer how much it was going to be and he said to ship it. I called them back to get their shipping address and let them know it was on the way. They asked me how much I was quoted for the upgrade. I told them $375 they told me that it was going to be $450-$500!! So I call my customer back and tell him the "good news". He says to go ahead and get it done anyway. So I call them back and tell them that the turbo is on it's way and ask them how long it would be. I was told it would take about 2weeks.(This was before Christmas). A month came and went. I gave them a call and was told they would call me back with some info. Days went by and I decided to give them a call. This time I was told that the turbo "could not be upgraded" and was even told that they (SB) could not understand why. They told me I could get a new bastard 20g for $799 and that they would ship me back the 16g so that the customer could sell it to make up for some of the cost of the new turbo. I had already sent them $400 for the rebuild that they had for over 4 weeks.

I get back on the phone with my customer and tell him some more "good news". Well at this time his car had been in my shop for over a month. I told him that SB was a good shop and told him that if it were me I would take their recommendation to get the new 20g and that when he got the 16g back from them he could sell it to make up for some of the cost. Reluctantly he agreed and said if I recommended them then he would go along with it.

Well about another month goes buy and I call them to see what is going on. They tell me that they have not received the turbo from their supplier yet and would call them and find out what is going on. So I again call my customer and tell him the news. He says it's okay and that he wants to order a SBR clutch while he has the car down. So I get back on the phone and Cregger answers. I ask if they have the clutch in stock and he tells me yes so I order it. Well a week goes by and still no clutch or word on the turbo. I call back up and get John on the phone and ask him about the clutch. He tells me they are having to wait to get them in! I tell him that Cregger told me they had them in stock. (At this point they have about $1200 of my customers money.) I tell him that when I ordered the clutch Cregger said they had it in stock. He tells me that they did not have them in stock. I also ask him about the turbo. He said he would call their supplier and see what was taking so long. I told him that I needed to know something that day so that I could call and tell my customer what was going on. Well I waited all day, and guess what? No call!

I get back on the phone to call SBR the next day right after being chewed out from my customer for the 5 time in 2 days. They tell me that the turbo is on it's way to them and that they would send me a ACT 2600 to make up for the clutch not being in stock. I said okay that sounds good. Well a few days later the turbo shows up. Guess what? The bastard 20g looks all good and then when I get into the box to get the 16g out it's in pieces! Yes that's right pieces! I look through the parts and guess what? The compressor wheel is missing. At this point my patients had ran out. I get back on the phone to SBR and ask them what is going on. They tell me the rebuilder had taken it apart and that I could put it back together and the customer could sell it. I tell him that the compressor wheel is missing and he tells me that they sent everything back to me that they got in from the rebuilder. So apparently they don't check anything when they get it back in from their rebuilders. I tell him that I can't put the turbo back together unless I have the compressor wheel. I am told that they will call the rebuilder and see if they can find something out. I wait another 2 days for their call! So I call them back. They tell me that the rebuilder has the compressor wheel and will be sending it to me. They also proceed to tell me that since "I WANTED A NEW TURBO INSTEAD OF HAVING THE OLD ONE REBUILT THAT THE REBUILDER HAD ALREADY HONED OUT THE CENTER SECETION TO EXCEPT THE BIGGER SHAFT FOR THE 20G WHEEL."
I almost lost it. I tell them that they are the ones who told me that the turbo could not be rebuilt. So SBR tells me yet again they will call the rebuilder and see what is going on. I wait another day for their call. You guessed it, I HAD TO CALL THEM BACK! They tell me that the rebuilder said that the turbine wheel was damaged and they could not rebuild it. This was after I was told that the turbine was replaced in the rebuild anyway.I asked them why then did they hone out the center section, they told me they didn’t know!

So now my customer has a box of worthless parts that came from a good turbo that was sent to SBR that took 2 months to get!

I will never do business with this place again. If this is how they treat customers that have spent thousands of dollars with them they need to close their doors.

I am also going to post this on every DSM, STI forum that I can find. If you don’t believe me I can send you a copy of my bank statements that show when I paid them and also a copy of all the ups shipping labels with the date they arrived.

Thank you ,
Jon

That sux, I don't understand why they didn't just have the supplier drop ship the 20G directly to your customer.

So what ever happened with the 16G that got ruined. Did you end up paying for a new 16G that the customer could then sell or did SBR give some him money back.

I feel your pain. I erroneously placed an order with Vivid Racing and now i am biting my nails hoping that the transaction goes smoothly.

I'm kicking myself right now.

Man sorry to hear... It's the worst when SOMEONE ELSE makes your shop look bad... It's like that with my shop too.. I work for a surf and skate shop (Vanguard) and there's a company who does surfboard repairs for all the shops in the South Bay. Twice in the past 2 months they've lagged on getting customers boards back to us in time (and when there's good waves, people get PISSED when they don't have a board when they're supposed too). We even had to go pick one up one time. I know it's not the same, but I totally feel your pain.

Maybe you should invest in rental boards.

oh yes, its good to know, but lots of people used to dislike SBR in the dsm area, they treated me well, but never really was happy with their turbo that i bought from them.

All my customer has is a box of parts! They will do nothing to make this right!
