milage- 24k (weekend warrior)
engine mods- fp 8cm green, fp oil line, aps dr525 fmic, dw 740cc, aps cai, perrin AM and inlet, perrin oil Catch can, prodrive BS, forge bpv, ngk 1 step colder

i purchased an fp 8cm green on 2/19/08 installed everything my self to the T(primed it 6 times and pre oiled it!), i break the turbo in for about 1k miles not exceeding 3800 rpm. i then get protuned by efi logics (chris from xx tuning) 450 miles later i notice black smoke from my exhaust and a metal noise from my turbo safe to say this wasnt very normal

i then shipped the turbo back to fp along with a booklet of documents (invoice ,pictures, a brief letter, dyno charts). once the turbo arrived (me tracking it) i called fp about 10 times leaving a message each time and got no response which could have been due to it being 4th of july week which fell on a friday and my turbo arrived the week b4 which was on a thursday. finally 2 days later i get a call stating how badly my turbo is broken and the costly repairs to fix it. he then said that he had no problem fixing it under warranty and had to ask me if i removed the oil filter in the oil feed line (banjo bolt) which i did not do. he then stated that he would fix the turbo for free and that he did not want to argue with someone who sent the amount of paper work that i sent and asked if i could check and remove the filter from the oil line because that was probably the cause of my turbo failing. i received my turbo back a bout 2 weeks ago and have put about 300 miles on it. so far so good knock on wood

ps if i had the money i would have not put this turbo back in and would have gone with a blouch dom 3 but i have a baby on the way and i have to think about priorities

I can't help but notice this thread has a definite "turbo of the week club" feel about it.

I remember back in the day (like a month ago) when the ET GT52 was the turbo to have! Before that it was the SZ49 and before that it was the FP20G. That is when I bought my turbo. Besides that, I can drive out to FP and kill Robert anytime!

I also remember (too lazy to document) Blouch having their share of trouble on the boards in the past. What comes around goes around.

FP20G lasted about 10 mos with about 10K mi on car. Most of which was easy driving and highway miles. I blew both oil seals around the same time and it puked oil into my intercooler and exhaust. My engine turned out fine but the turbo did not. I can't imagine why both seals should go out.

I didn't bother contacting them based on other people experiences here and just replaced it with an APS. Many people say APS is over priced. I feel buying two turbos is over priced. I should have went with APS in the first place and saved myself the first investment.

Bad customer Service + Internet + Informed Customer = Slow Death.

whats really disturbing to me is how at first he seemed like he was very sympathetic to you and the mifortunes youve encountered. then after 3-4 emails into it he just completely changed his tune as was pretty much like **** it your on your own and ill help you as little as possible.

i was also looking at the green but i think ill now go with the dom 3 when the time comes. customer service is def a bigger plus than price. especially when it comes to a 30k+ vehicle.

good luck with your new turbo and id like to see some numbers unless youve already posted them. (im bout to go read the rest)

Thats a really crappy situation. I just purchased one of there HTA Green's from a forum member used and after recieving it I inspected it and noticed that almost all of the blades on the turbine wheel were bent : ( I notified the seller and he had no idea of there being any damage to it, I sent it back to him and he has sent it to FP for a rebuild. I'll post a couple pics to show what I'm talking about. On a side note I found this advertisement on another forum and found alittle humor in it. FP Forced Performance 20G Turbo Blowout
