well i understand that. but. I heard other people's ewg's and it sounds like a huge rush of air. mine just sounds straight up like an annoying exhaust leak.

no. I havnt re tuned it unfortunately. I havnt re tuned at all actually. Ive been trying to find a tuner in memphis but... its the south... no all wheel drive dynos here.... at least none i can find.
It is set at .1 which is right at how much my ewg should be able to hold on its own but yet it goes off even before that depending on how i set the the target boost level at.

I have it set at .1 right now and it goes off slightly before that.
I have no idea why mine just sounds so annoying....

You won't hear the EWG when you shift because it will close when you let off the throttle. You're probably hearing the BOV or BPV.

Sounds like you're totally confusing wastegates with BOVs and vice versa.

uhh.. im not stupid... I know the diff bw my bov and my wastegate. and my wastegate IS going off at all gears. not exactly when i shift but its going off, which is normal. However, its not normal that my boostcontroller isnt working properly and so I have to run with it off. Becuase my boostcontroller is off, my wastegate swings wide open by 5psi. Which is why I was wondering if it should be doing that and the answer is no. It shouldnt open up till close to around 14-15psi but thats not the ewg fault, its my boost controller's fault.

but the fact that you think im "totally confusing wastegates with BOVs" is quite insulting man.... that hurt.

^^ do you honestly know wtf is going on with your car?

it should sound like this:

YouTube - WRX EWG

or this:

YouTube - Hatchkrapper's WRX

or this:

YouTube - 06 WRX evo3 16G EWG in-car

perhaps this:

YouTube - 07 STi w/ 38mm EWG 20-90 MPH Pull

theres only so many things wrong in that paragraph that i can stomach......

you answered ur own question for one, and two if the boost controller doesnt work..FIX IT OR GET A NEW ONE?!

maybe then ur EWG wont "swing open" (only internals swing open) at 5 psi

and for one if u wanna know more about EWG's:

YouTube - Wastegates - GCG Turbo's

please take the time to check these out and for the sake of ur car i hope you dont blow anything up

to the OP have you ran your car at the track since this tune? it should be good for high 11's now!

i got an off brand 38MM in my garage that i plan to use one day......and a turbo xs up-pipe that im thinkin of ditching (for a reasonable price for anyone interested ) for the grimmspeed piece.....decisions decisions.....

Yes I know whats going on with my car;well, as far as finding out what was wrong with my boost controller goes.

I Fixed the problem and my EWG sounds exactly like the first youtube clip.

The only weird thing about my car now is that my wastegate still opens for a split second sometimes right at 0psi.
in the negative psi's it is shut and then if i open the throttle up all the way before it hits 0 psi, the wastegate opens for a split second and then it proceeds to hit my target boost by 3000rpm.
Not exactly sure why it does that.

This is def. a learning process for me. No one in Memphis knows how to work on subbies so im stuck doing all the work myself and learning everything from scratch.

I already saw how the wastegate works on that video. Ive watched it several times already. I can def say I dont have a complete grasp on the knowledge needed to fully understand my car, but I know enough.

Could a loose hose cause the wastegate to open for a split second at 0psi before spooling up?

Could it possibly be my stock ecu's limp mode that is kicking in?

It isnt my internal wastegate that is opening cause it is held shut by my grimmspeed bracket.

Anyone have any ideas on the new issue?

I've learned a lot more than I knew when i first posted on this thread so that is why it seems like i had no clue what was going on with my car in my original posts.

Your tuner should be able to help man. I'd go to him asap.

initially (dont quote me) i dont think it should open before the target boost at all (someone with a EWG setup correct me at anytime here) that does suck theres no suby mechanics out there to help, but at the same time it forces you to work on your own car, meaning you'll save urself money working on your OWN car. IMHO i'd search high and low for a suby service manual (if u dont have one) cuz thats the only thing i dont have. i try to do as much myself on my car as i can, it also helps to have close friends all certified mechanics in their own lil aspects too .

also, for the love of god find a good tuner. im not going EWG until i at least have a tuner set the map up for it BEFOREHAND, know what i mean? (something you might have not done first, just a thought tho.)
